    04 Tundra V6 manual 4x4
Hey everyone, I’m new to the forums on here! Super happy to be here. I have a 1st Gen Tundra AC V6 manual 4x4 SR5 now as my first truck. And I am absolutely in love with it. Slowly working on building it out (any advice would be greatly appreciated!!). I grew up in Pakistan and have always been around Toyota trucks (Hilux and the Land Cruiser). I think Toyota makes the best trucks!

This is my daily driver, Im and contractor and drive a lot on highways and in the city

    The Goal:

    Basic:
At the most basic level, I want to make this truck as strong and reliable as possible! i don't skip on maintenance. I always use Lucas high-mileage engine oil stabilizer in all my oil changes (if there are any other or better products, please let me know)

    Mods im thinking of doing:
-Im looking into the Bilstein 5100 with OME (885) Coil Springs 2.5 lift.
-change the grill for the toyota lettering
    -wheels and tires
-update the sound (iv already installed a 9in screen)

1st thing to catch up on is maintenance, and evaluate problem parts (lower ball joints, etc.) to make sure someone didn't install OEM. You know, check off your list of things that will destroy the truck, and possibly take your life with it in the process.

If using lifted springs, 5100 is worthless. Just save some $$ and get 4600, unless you want to pay premium $$ for silver shock bodies that are adjustable, but you can't even adjust because you're using a lifted spring. Also, at 2.5" you're going to want to make other changes. But don't lift until you've addressed your LBJs and their bolts, using OEM parts only.

That 5VZ will run for a long ass time with basic maintenance. That includes using the correct coolant (pink or red, no other color), changing the coolant at appropriate intervals (5yr/50k mile for pink SLLC, or 3yr/30k mile for red, IIRC), failure to change coolant on schedule can lead to head gasket issues. Note: 1st coolant change isn't due for 10yr/100k miles, whichever comes first, and I suspect that long interval is why nobody ever things about it ... but it's genuinely important.

Come hang with us on the 1st gen subforum: https://www.tundras.com/forums/1st-gen-tundras-2000-2006.2/

Bookmark that, and the thread @PermaFrostTRD posted. FYI, the "Lunch Table" sticky thread near the top of the 1st gen forum is our "general chatter" area where most folks post asking for random advice. But you may get flamed a little bit if you ask something that's already in that thread!!
