Sure it's fun to roll down the rear window on a nice day, and it's just too tempting to reach over and lower it when a $90k Escalade is behind you, but man the utility of the thing! Throwing something quickly in the rear, or y'know, going out to the lake...

    4runner_kayak_LI (2).jpg

It's something I'll miss in the future I'm sure.

My Sequoia does this. Haven’t utilized it as much as you think I would. Typically just pop the back gate. But it can come in handy if you’ve got a full load and just need to grab some thing without risk of stuff falling out.

Love being in my 18 4Runner 5 windows and the sunroof open, same effect as a jeep, but far more comfortable and classy. Feels great!

If you have it, it is far from under appreciated!

The latest Toyota teaser for the Tundra highlights a new Pano roof, followed by the rear power window going down.

Any idea how serious the warning is about the rear window of the CM that's in the manual?
    Caution while driving
    Keep the back window closed.
This not only keeps personal belongings from being thrown out, but also
prevents exhaust gases from entering the vehicle.

I use the roll down back window WAAAAY more than I thought I would. Love that feature!

Hasn’t been a problem for me yet :notsure:

No exhaust smell, and nothing has flown out.

Liability issue, they always put all liability on the consumer if possible.

The cost of replacing it is one of the reasons why I have a headache rack mounted.

Yes, it always serves as a reminder if I haven't completely cleaned out the bed after a mulch run. But my kids laughed when I said all I wanted out of my next Tundra was the same rear power window. I almost never use the A/C, you get so much calm air flow from it.

Yeah! This is kind of what I'm getting at. This is my first vehicle with a roll down rear window, and reading that feature off a website sounded cool, and the thought of getting a nice draft going through the truck was appealing, but particularly in my case with a 4Runner it has turned out to have much more utility than I expected.

I thought you were going to say the most underappreciated feature is always getting to your destination without breaking down. :stirthepot::laugh:

But yeah, the wife and I definitely love the roll down back window on both our 4R and CM!

That open rear window is a night and day difference in the driving experience with the sunroof or front windows down. Air just flows on through. I open all the glass as often as possible. We call it "Jeep mode."

I have a sunroof on our 4Runner... I roll down the back window before I ever open up the sunroof (minimal use).

Tundra back window is down as much as possible...

If you ask @CodyP that feature makes all other toyota vehicles without it irrelevant, and worthless.

The doors don’t lock when the key is the the ignition. The most beloved feature for me personally.

When I had a Tundra Ridgeline (crewmax) I never got a smell of exhaust. On the 4Runner really couldn't run with the rear window down as I always seemed to smell exhaust.

Don’t know what it’s like on the Tundra because well DC…lol. But on the 4Runner you could definitely smell it especially when you got deeper into that skinny pedal.
