How's the rest of that saying go? The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry. That's it.

We had plans today of taking a cruise up and over Boreas Pass, look for some fall color, shoot some photos, hopefully create some new portfolio images for Roxy and meet up with @Almaboy. As we went by the Coney Island Hot Dog on 285 all of that changed. I wouldn't have called the weather atrocious. It is, after all, September in the Colorado mountains so anything really is possible. But, the rain definitely put a damper on things.

I decided that maybe we could jump over Guanella to bypass, or even get ahead, of the weather. Not the case. South side of Guanella was raining steady with thunder in the distance.

    Vk31PPU_rznEaLFE0wlxHqgxWnM7X3sWbTjIBjDR_95942d8f0d0f280f506f3f24f3359032de42e16d.jpg

We stopped at the summit lot for a few photos. Bec has been asking me to come up with some new imagery for the new ballet studio she's helping startup. Jump out in the drizzle. Unpack a tutu and some pointe shoes. Rip off a couple of quick with the weather and Bierstadt looking in the background. Grab one of the truck in pavement princess mode.

    jiS9oocy2-P3xDcIAakRPXmBbJ5IcRAcAPwvzj8Y_5d58216f21a339bab27902c7fd1a11deca92e36e.jpg

A mile down the road on the north side and the weather clears although it's dark down in the valley over Georgetown.

We mosey down the mountain, stopping here and there for some other images. Hang the tutu in a tree. Dangle pointe shoes off a boom stand. Take a landscape.

Eventually we got down into the clouds and rain in Georgetown, merged into the Sunday traffic on I70 and headed home.

Definitely nice to be up high in the clean, cool air. The drizzle and rain were welcome additions to the day. At least for me. Ready for some cooler temps down here in town.

Thanks man. Would love to try and get up and play around Georgia Pass and the Swan River forks before the snow starts flying.

Don't know if snowmobiling, dog sledding, or snow shoeing would be very kind to a screwed up knee.....

There was scenery? All I saw was one bad @$$ Tundra. That rig is a beast. Awesome pics btw. Colorado trip on my list for one of my vacations next year, summer that is. We southerners don't do goodo in the cold white stuff.

Ain't gonna happen. Two planks. Locked in or tele. I'm too old to be smashing my face trying to learn to snowboard. Besides, I like to be able to continue moving forwards why you get stuck on the flats...

I'd like to do more skiing than I do. I only really do when there's time, someone has the right size setup, and wants to switch for a bit.

I'm not terrible on skis but not great either. I stick to a board because I don't want to buy a ski setup...it's much more expensive than a board setup

Totally into learning new stuff but, I have enough expensive pasttimes and not enough time to cover them all. I seriously can't imagine adding another one.
