This has probably been talked about but I just purchased a short antenna for my tundra and I’m quite impressed with the reception. I was skeptical the shorter ones would work as well as the oem but I am still getting the stations I listen to from another market an hour and a half away.

I got one too. No reception lost that I've noticed.

I was considering changing my antenna but kinda like using it as a feeler gauge for height in underground parkings lol

I had that 6 inch one . They do not last in fully automatic car washes. $26.00 waste of my money. Guy sent me out a second one. I put lots of epoxy in where the first one broke. Lasted 6 car washes instead of three. Mine did not have any better reception nor was it any worse. Peace. D

Yep, these guys make the best ones but you do have to be careful with the stubby that most of us get here. I got my first one replaced under warranty too after I saw it bent one day, inside was broken.

I’ve lost some reception in the city, only bugs me when I want to hear local news static free, otherwise I use playlists from USB sticks and my iPhone. And I do miss the height check. I put the stock one back on when we drive out of town and go camping.

Got this stubby from Amazon. Haven't had it through the car wash yet so there is the unknown. I used blue loctite to hold it on20180630_173157.jpg

Mine is still working well. I forgot to take it off in the car wash a while back but it survived. I’m pleased with it.

Does anyone know of a flatter profile antenna like the shark fin style that can go thru automated car washes ??

I have the Ronin 4inch... I wont lie it looks great hasnt faded... but I have horrible reception. Out of 5 FM stations I would normally play I only get 1 clear and sometimes a 2nd. I use my Pandora subscription anyway but for anyone considering this one you will give up basic reception. I rarely use FM to begin with but after checking the saved stations I had a 80% loss lol.

Rookie and perhaps dumb question here, but do these antennas pick up AM in addition to FM?

Like is AM radio affected quite a bit by a stubby antenna?

I’m just disappointed a 2018 truck still has an antenna from the 1980’s

I have one of the short antennas and I pick up all am and fm just fine. Mine doesn’t have a logo on it.

My truck does not go through automated car washes. We just bond in the garage each Saturday or Sunday.

You can buy a shorter antenna which is 2 or 3" shorter than stock. That's if your OEM antenna hits the garage door and you want couple of inches shorter ... I can't tell the difference so far!

I have been searching in vain for a "better reception" antenna. I don't care what it looks like. I have the tall stock skinny one. I travel a lot and I like to listen to Talk AM. My wife's 2011 Subaru gets way better reception on both AM and FM than I do on my 2007 Tundra.

they may not use a as quality AM/FM tuner as some other cars ... so it may not be just your antenna. My very old Tacoma has a very good AM reception. all my German cars had good radios!

Just got my 6 3/4" from The Antenna Source in the mail today. Very nice quality. Took longer than expected due to rotating strikes with Canada Post. Didn't get a chance to install it today. Will do it on the weekend.
