With only a few days to hunt this week before a big trip, I took advantage of a rainy day to get our Thanksgiving dinner. 100 yard shot with a Savage .17. That gun is a tack driver! I like neck shots, it’s either kill or miss...seldom a wounded bird.

The store is an hour away....unless I can't drive to it, then I'd pop off the jackrabbits running around or scrounge on the cows grazing nearby

I prefer my meat to have no antibiotics, steroids, growth hormones, and whatever else gets pumped into domestic livestock. 90% of the meat we eat is wild game. Deer, moose, bear, turkey. Bear is our favorite meat. Melts in your mouth like filet mignon.

Nothing better than gettin your own game vittles. Best tasting and you help control wild game populations and license $ goes to maintain habitat. Win win....

I understand the get your own food and surviving and no hormones and stuff....I, along with others (probably fellow females) have not had the opportunity to cross into that "harvesting" arena. I my life depended on it, yes, I'd take an animal to survive...sport, not so, unless nothing goes to waste.

Actually Anchorage has 3 Philipino restaurants and a fairly large Philipino community. The only turkeys unfortunately in Anchorage are store bought. Moose rib eye roast for Thanksgiving. Yummy...

For reals? That's too far for us to paddle out boats to...must be recent arrivals or military family...I think we flock more towards warmer climate.

Quite a few folks from Guam, Tonga, Hawaii too. Not recent arrivals either. There was a Philipino Baptist Church near my house that had been there for years apparently.
