well, I'm sure it's much better when you consider normal driving like lotsa cruising freeway, etc...
I would say many could get a few more MPG than 20 combined

Those rumors were assuming it was going to be a prius type hybrid, the whole point of this hybrid wasn't to be a huge gain in MPG.

I think it's been confirmed multiple places that it is a hybrid to add torque, not to add MPGs.

I don’t see why someone would want a hybrid. Besides being able to say they have a hybrid. Sure you get some more power but with the added weight, loss of storage, cost, and more stuff to go wrong. If mileage isn’t in the 30’s what’s the point?

Honestly this has almost been a Bronco 2.0 release. I'm just going to sit back until Toyota posts and announces the final numbers. And also confirm configurations via a build tool. The "official" spec sheet posted doesn't match what's been demo'd. What's been demo'd doesn't match the spec sheet. It's been kind of a mess trying to figure out which reviewer has the accurate information.

If this was the release Toyota was going for ........I have no words.

Does theirs operate differently than the powerboost? The Ford Powerboost is just 24. How is this one so varied?

Dude, I completely agree. Toyota has botched this up so badly. They had the hype they were going for but the extended waits didn’t add more hype, it just added frustrations. Nothing matches, the dealers know less than us, we all are fishing for scraps and what is being released is just average. I love the truck and am buying one, but don’t hype it more than what it is. I personally feel that they could have made the release mysterious and show us a piece at a time in regular schedule succession and then rolled out validated specs for gas and then hybrid. It doesn’t hype me up, it just makes me think if they actually have a finished truck or are making up stuff as they go.

Completely agree. I was all for hybrid and placed a preorder for gas due to the late release date, but wondered if I should have waited. With all these items you mentioned, I’m not even concerned anymore.

I would say 5mpg increase is not bad, considering Toyota doesn't inflate their mpg numbers like other truck manufacturers

I'd wait for the actual numbers. Those seem a little too close to the regular model. I don't think Toyota would waste their time on a hybrid model that gets the same mileage, tows less but does 0-60 half a second quicker. Also, just to put this in perspective, those numbers wouldn't beat the 2009 GMC Hybrid.

I would tend to agree. Those are going to be regular numbers. The releases ive seen say they havent certified hybrid numbers.

    From forbes:

The conventional twin-turbo V6-powered 2022 Tundra has earned EPA fuel economy estimates of 18 mpg city, 23 highway and 20 combined. That’s about a third better than the outgoing truck, which returned 13, 17, and 15 mpg in the same metrics. The four-wheel-drive version is rated at 17 in city driving, 22 on the highway and 19 combined. According to Toyota, the hybrid powertrain, which connects the twin-turbo V6 with an electric motor, doesn’t have a rating yet but will be even more fuel-efficient.

I cringed looking at those poor tires getting almost pinched in every obstacle. Whoever was the idiot that decided an offroad truck should be on 20's needs to be fired and banned from driving.

Those numbers are for the conventional V6. Hybrid numbers have not been released yet.

3" OME lift w/ UCAs. ARE overland shell w/ ARE roof rack. 34" Falken Wildpeaks. ARB awning. Road shower. Wilco Offroad Hitchgate Solo High Clearance. LED lighting upgrades. Lockerdown console safe. Weathertech floormats. Duluth deluxe rear seat cover to go under the offroad approved car seats.... :P
After watching this, I can say, I do like the look of the truck... The dealer installed 3" lift will be interesting to see what they come up with, and if its comparable to after market.... With after market bumpers, 35"+ tires and a lift, it looks intriguing... Whether I would sell my gen 2 and upgrade to this is questionable, but I could see keeping my current truck and picking one of these up in 25-26.... Once the lease returns start to roll in and go to certified used... considering that on a good day I get 15-16 mpg at best out of my truck, 20+ and more power would be just fine... Can't wait to see pricing and a configurator...

You get a hybrid to go 0-60 in 6.86 seconds. :)
