Texas front plate on Tundra.

I know a defense attorney (taught me in the LEO academy) who got his front plate ticket dismissed on the basis his Cadillac didn't come with a front plate mount and he refused to drill holes in his Cadillac.
Besides, most cops don't pull you over for no front plate (or speeding under 7mph over the limit) unless they're bored and just fishing.

But typically it's a "fix it ticket". So you prove you fixed it and it gets dismissed.

WTH did I miss in here? Drama about front plates or lack thereof?
I live in a front plate state. My vehicles have one.
I've had vehicles that didn't.
I can't tell you the last Corvette of any generation that I've seen around here WITH a front plate. Cops (here) don't care.

Tint is similar. Unless you're in the 'hood, 7 county metro almost always gets a pass for all but limo tint.
Go one county to the west, where LE has very little to do, and you'll be peeling your tint off at the side of the road.

We're all (mostly) adults. We take calculated risks every day. Some are bigger risk takers than others. No shame either way.
Anyway, for those that can get away with it, whether legally or not, more power to you.

 

The first BMW I bought, the salesman told me they don't drill holes in the front bumper for plates. He then proceeded to tell me that BMW's are specialty cars and it just spoils the fun when that ugly plate is on the front. He gave me his business card and told me if I ever got pulled over by the cops for no plate on the front, just give the cop his card and he'll take care of it. I'm thinking to myself, you stupid F'er, you think I'm that gullible

 

This is a true story.

My home state of Colorado requires a front plate. Kansas doesn't. While traveling in our RV thru Kansas, I mangled the front plate on a stump while parking the big beast. The plate was barely hanging on, so I took it off for the remainder of our drive home. Somewhere in bum-fuck western Kansas I rolled thru a speed trap and the SOB pulled me over for no front plate. So, I got pulled over for having no Colorado front plate in Kansas where they aren't required. Imagine that. Yes, cops can enforce other state's laws, even if they don't apply in their own state.

I guess I got a little too lippy with the cop, so he came up with an excuse to search my RV. After all, I was from Colorado, so surely I had some weed or other illegal substances, right? Things escalated between me and this chubby little prick, so he called in his supervisor, who was actually more reasonable.

In total, I spent over 2 hours on the side of the road dealing with an over-zealous douche-bag with a superiority complex. In the end, they gave me a warning and I was on my way. So, be forewarned @JohnWhicker, it can happen to you too.

 

Some states DMV understand the front plate dilemma and offer a front window sticker (much like oil change reminder stickers) for a fee. This shows up when your plate is ran ..hence no pullover.
