I was nervous about scuffing my beautiful chrome bumper caps prior to painting them so I went lightly.

    Now they're peeling.

I'm eventually going to powder coat them but does anyone have suggestions as to removing the paint that will not pressure wash off?

Piece of cake!!! Get a hold of @Roman. Seriously, if you're not gonna buy new ones, sand the crap out of 'em with 80 grit. Even 80 will barely do anything to 'em.

I've got a guys number in Denver that said he would powder coat my wheels for $50 each. I'll text it to you if you want to give him a call.

    I can't afford Roman...but I can afford @Joeshaker recommendations.
@COMiamiFan and I are going to get powder coating done at the same time if we can find time to organize ourselves and actually commit to a date. He did some calling around pitching tge "package deal" and found some great prices. We will do it...just have to commit to the caps off for longer than we like

In the meantime my OCD is flaring up....

That's the ticket, good price too. C'mon Jeff, just resuscitate one of those flaming credit cards and be done already.

I've never met the guy Or seen his work. So you'll have to get a feel for if he is good or not. Hey, maybe I'll get my whole bumper done if yours turns out good. I'll get his number to you in a few.

A chunk of 2x4 should work. Just make sure to get treated. You don't want it to rot out.

Paint is cheap and it will match, powder will always be off. The prep is the issue, but a non issue, if the painter can't strip the chrome, you can for almost nothing other than your r&r time. OE is painted, and albeit a bumper, paint can be touched up, pc not so much. My 2 cents.

Very true, it's all in the prep and the right primer. I can't find that guys number, just a couple emails through boulder CL from last year. Just prep it right and paint.

Use some paint stripper get the old paint off. Then sand the crap out of them till the chrome is dull. Just not to much where there are deep grooves. use a tac cloth before you paint to get any dust off wash ect. Primer it a few times paint it, gloss. wet sand, Polish. Shouldn't be to much work. Just alot of patiences. since you've already sanded and painted them once there is no turning back now.
I might try this in the future. I do not want plastic bumper ends up front like I do on my back bumper.
