So been reading about dap and bullydog lately but want to know more about dap. Others then people saying it's badass or get one you won't regret. Big thing that I like about dap is the torque management removed. Evething else I don't care for. So what im getting at is it's really worth the price tag or is tow hual the exact same thing.

I’m a dealer for both products. And have personally tested both products. Here’s how I recommend:

Get Bullydog for a mostly stock truck with stock cats. Where you aren’t tryin to shut off any codes. You simply want power.

Get Bullydog if you’re Trd supercharged with an otherwise stock truck.

Get Bullydog if you’re running long tube headers with cats and you’re not getting a check engine light for catalyst inefficiency.

Get dap if you’re supercharged with smaller pulley

Get dap is you’re not running cats and need to turn off check engine light.

    Get dap if turbocharged.

Please feel free to give me a call for more details. I’ve tested both products and am happy to share knowledge.

Thanks Keith, yeah I'm planing in the next week or so adding LT headers. I've got aftermarket exhaust, bigger wheels and tires on a 4inch lift so I'm just looking at getting some power back if not add alittle more. So I'm hoping headers will get me back to stock numbers if anything. So just getting info on both to see what everyone thinks about them. I know tow hual wakes the truck up nice. Not not sure if there's any negative effects using it often. If SC weren't so pricey I would jump on that but dont want to sell a kidney for one haha.

Add gears to the mix. That would be the best bang for your $. 4.88 or 5.29 for some extra pep.

Definitely been thinking that also after headers. I'm a big diy guy but gearing I'm not very sure I can do that one

Gearing would get you closest to your stock tire size feeling. All the other things you mentioned would just be a bonus.

Exactly. Gearing brings you back into your Power band. All the other stuff makes your power band better.

Having a better powerband but never being in the power band is like being married to a hot blond but only being able to look but not touch. Haha. Exaggerated. But you get the point.

Gearing for sure. I have 35" tires and 4.5" lift. I never really had the issue of the tranny "hunting", but I did notice the power loss. Installed 488 W/ LSD, and now truck pulls and has getty up it had with stock wheels.

Not to hi-jack, but can the Bully Dog tuner be detected by the dealer?

So for re gearing what's the common brand people use? Don't want trash but also don't need gold plated diamond encrusted gears, just want a good reliable brand.

I have had a bullydog for about 5 months and just got DAP tuned yesterday. I'm keeping the bullydog in the truck for use as a monitoring device. I have jba longtubes, stock cats welded into mid pipes, 8" BAM exhaust, AFE drop in filter.

The bullydog is cool because you can change things like throttle response, shift points, and customize the display to show different gauges like intake temp, trans temp, pyro temp, coolant temp, MAF, AFR (which never changes), rpm's, speed, etc. you can also change settings on your truck like turning the seat belt chime off, light settings, door lock settings, etc. it also has performance testing where it will record your 0-100 kph, 0-60 times, 1/4 mile times, etc. you can also read and clear codes.

DAP is cool because it actually makes your truck faster, more powerful, better/faster shifting. In person tune is undetectable by the dealer supposedly while the bullydog and remote DAP is not.

3 out of 4 people prefer the bullydog, 5 out of 4 prefer DAP.

If you want a tune that makes your truck fast, take it from me, save your money, don't buy a bullydog. Get a DAP tune. Get one of those Bluetooth obd things and the torq app (other apps do the same thing) if you want to see all of the readings that the bullydog does.

Well DAP doesn't have a tune for the 2018 yet. But when he does, you should get it.

No problem, forgot to mention that soy will get better gas mileage. I averaged 15-15.5 with the bullydog and stock tune. I'm only a 1/4 tank into it so far with DAP, normal
Mix of highway and city just like I always drive. And I just hit 18.8.....truck cruises at 75 on the highway about 1900-1950 RPM's compared to 2050-2100 RPM's before.

Does it change anything when your in tow hual also or does it only effect drive on the shifter? How would you compare the tune to tow hual?

Haven't tried tow haul since getting tuned but the only thing tow haul does is raise your shift points and increase the throttle sensitivity. It doesn't add power or make your truck faster. It feels faster but only because it makes the throttle super sensitive.

11 more days for me then I'll be DAPped. Pretty pumped! I'm going with the in person tune so the dealer doesn't get wise. Not that I go there that often, I just don't wanna screw with any of that resetting and driving 50 miles before service stuff.

Anyone know if there is a tune for a SC flex fuel by DAP or anyone else on the east coast? I remember a thread about DAP having one in the works for flex fuel but never heard if it was released.
The Magnuson kit came with a BD can tune but it’s lacking. The BD GT mine came with, non tuner version, can’t control anything Stingray mentioned in his post. I Wish it could.

Talked to shrek about this on Saturday. It's not ready yet. He's tuned a couple ffv's but he said he's not happy with it yet. It's the only thing preventing me from starting to save my allowance for a. SC

Ok, thanks. Hopefully Shrek will have it finished soon. Where is DAP located?

Is he working on a super charged flex fuel tundra or naturally aspirated FLex fuel?

Is there a piggy back system that will work with flex fuel?
