Still can’t find the problem to this tail light fuse popping. My taillight fuse keeps popping. I recently installed new lights but just the housings. Nothing electrical. Now I have no dashboard lights, no back daylight lights. Only thing that comes on is all the front headlights, turn signals, fog lights, reverse lights and brake lights. Not the regular red lights that are on at night. I checked for pinched wires and I don’t see anything.

I’m about to give up on this and just sell this truck. It’s been months and still can find the pinch wire, bad socket where it’s grounding. It was perfectly fine about a year ago. I even put back the old lights that it had before.

Yup, I shudder every time I see crap like this here, people using these shit-ass splices for trailer wiring. This is from a truck olshaggy was looking for advice on recently - these damn things cause so many freaking problems! (note the cut plug in the top right, what does it do? WHO KNOWS?! I guess someone cut the old off and added a new one?):

I don’t have an after market towing harness. If I remove it completely and it still pops what do you think I should check next?

Replace the turn signal bulbs with the old ones. The ones that came in new housings are probably for the 03 and newer models I had same problem.

Was this problem solved? I just gave up trying to find the short in my circuit and ran a new wire from the kick panel and spliced into the wiring in the tail light housing. Then cut the green feed wire that runs under the frame. Bypassing the under truck wire fixed my problem.

If that's the case, I don't see any other possibility than you've got a short in your OEM wire and/or one of your connectors. Chances are it'll be one between the combo connector and the receptacle that keeps blowing.

I found the problem to why it was popping. My left turn signal that I bought brand new. That one came with bulbs already included. Well when I removed the bulb I noticed that some of the metal wiring inside the socket had been moved and the metals were touching. I pushed them back down into their slots and when I put the light bulb back into it and turned the lights the fuse didn’t pop.
