Looky what I came across today. Was doing a lot of back roads today to see how bad the flooding was. Was way off the beaten path. Seriously. This Einstein told me "my gps brought me down this road" he actually backed this rig 1/2 mile to this spot, he had to go through water covered roads 1/4 mile beyond this spot and only because he ran into a single lane wood bridge 1/4 mile past that did he realize his situation so he backed out....these are the guys you share the road with folks, 20 tons of dumb right here. #shameonswift20190623_162309.jpg

Sure Wish I Finished Training. Yeah.... I
deal with companies like that all the time.

What's real bad is when an actual professional driver comes over after your done inspecting one of these guys and asks "did you have to tell him to remember how to breathe". All you can do is shake your head and remember there on the same roads as you and your family.

I drove for nine years and had someone say they would back me up a road and they would walk beside me doing it.
I asked why they have to back me up the road and told them to get in and I can do it.

He wasn't used to a driver that could back up a half mile without help.

I backup up in such tight spaces that a helper said "Glad my finger wasn't in there" when he seen how close my mirrors were to the building

A trucker flipped his rig onto its side yesterday in a local roundabout. Not sure how he managed that other than going too fast. The roundabout is on a truck route and as such is oversized to accomodate big rigs...

What would the button pushers do today with a truck with two gear sticks and no power steering?

As someone who managed drivers in the past, this does not surprise me. There are still a ton of great drivers on the road but due the the driver shortage the industry has been hiring people that normally wouldn't be qualified. The result is what you see here. I've noticed more and more bad truck drivers in the past few years.

Agree. Across the board it's scary as shit to be on the road. I actually gave up street bikes and I averaged 20k miles a year on 2 wheels.

Witnessing the drivers test my son went through confirmed my suspicions. The license is a receipt for fees paid, nothing more.

That's interesting they've made it much more difficult in PA. When I got mine you had a Learner's Permit for 2 weeks then could take the drivers test, now there's a mandatory 6 month waiting period on the Learner's Permit and you need 65 documented hours of adult supervised driving including 10 during the dark, and 5 in inclement weather before you qualify to take the drivers test.

I know its easy to pick on Swift drivers. They give you so much ammunition. Driving home yesterday on 80 why do people have to hang out in the left lane? I would just pass them on the right but half of the Jack wads would then speed up. I had one car speed up to 90mph. I blew the little cage off but still I had my cruse set at about 75 or a little more. These are some of the problems on the road. No respect for anyone else

Yup, had license in hand in a week and a half. But.... I was driving since I was 12. Farm, back roads. The state was switching over from paper to computer and there was a big malfunction. Pa state sent me a paper asking me what class I was? I marked down everything lol I graduated high school with a class A licence

That's also a requirement here. But who's documenting it? The kid and the parent that can't drive for shit. No way to verify it as well.

The Missouri Drivers written test had a total of 3 questions that pertained to actual driving, the rest was about how to buckle in a child seat and things like that. The drivers test, he got a 98% on, and that was because he forgot to use a turn signal when parking. The tester came in and said "Wow, he's probably the best I've seen in a couple of months" I taught him, no drivers ed course etc. My son said the driving part was the easiest thing ever. He was shocked as well.

The tests are made to be easy since people complain it's too hard, so as the old saying goes "if you can't meet the spec, change the spec". When I was living in Europe I had to take their tests. it was friggin brutal, but most people on the road knew how to drive....

True, but I do see a lot more driving school cars around than in years past.

The last driver's test I saw was fairly comprehensive in covering rules of the road, etc.
