I picked up my TRD Pro today and was told that the dealer would install a toyota rear sway bar on my truck for 209.00 plus tax. Anybody have any experience with them?

Is it a gimmick or actually makes an appreciable difference?

Helps with cornering on turns, keeps your rear end from swaying over tilting, but if you plan on off-roading a lot ya don't need

Definitely worth the add. I’ve noticed the biggest difference with long sweeping turns, on/off ramps, and the turn at the end of my street (sharp left and uphill). Wish I had done it sooner. Save yourself the money and do the install your self. It’s possibly one of the easiest things to install if you have basic hand tools.

I put one on not too long ago. Was hitting the clover leaf the other day and had to turn down the radio because it was like whats that sound? It was the tires from my truck screeching. Didn't notice I was going so fast around there...that thing does make a difference.

Just found out today that the TRD Pros come with the beefed one on the front. The dealership is giving me the employee discount since I have done and sent so much business to them over the last 10 years or so. Also they are not going to charge me for the installation. 209.00 plus tax out the door. Also putting on the rain guards for all 4 windows for 60.00.

Depends on what you’re using the truck for.

On road mostly with occasional and relatively flat fire roads? Slap one on.

Off road to any real degree? Leave it off, and consider removing the front if you install beefier coilovers.

Basically they help on road feel and hurt off road performance.

We have no sway bars and now the wife and I have a competition - whoever can lean the truck further over in a corner wins. Bonus points for scraping a door handle on the pavement and bringing it back to all fours.

FWIW, we still bomb mountain roads at 90, but we’ve both done some track time and performance driving courses. And our suspension is built enough to handle the load transfer without the sways.

Picked up the truck yesterday with the new sway bar and I can see if you are doing any REAL serious off roading how it might be a little of an impedance, but it definitely feels better on the turns I tested it on.

Not doing Off Road anymore, new truck big difference. Gravel, Close fire roads, Highway, Do the big red bar. if you need the flex don't do it, but, highway and city driving, I say do it.

When I bought my truck I had them include the front and rear trd sway bar parts. I installed them. The rear was easy and the front would have been easier if I jacked the truck up but not horrible. The rear one made a big difference. Turns are much tighter feeling. Adding the front (it’s thicker than the stock one and weighs twice as much) made a little more difference. I don’t go Offroad for no reason, so I am fine with the lost articulation.

I just added one to my 2018 Limited. Truck feels more planted and less body roll in the turns too. Easy install. If you're on the fence, just do it.
