Here goes for my first trip report here.

A group of us from Reno, NV explore around here on higher mile off-road trips with some camping and technical 4x4 mixed in. We covered a little over 220 off-road miles with another 120 highway miles mixed in across 24 hours. We hit a peak of 8,400 ft and ascended a total of 12,000 feet during this trip. Camped on a dry lake bed we found in the night.

One 2 mile stretch of the river bed we were climbing up took over 4 hours, and I left with minor body damage and a punctured tire. My buddy in the black tundra got to follow me and learn from my mistakes and left with no body damage at all.

If anyone in the area ever wants to get an invite, reach out and I will keep you posted on our next trip.

Anybody have an opinion on this side wall? Are they ever repairable?
I am running a full size spare at the moment, I have the discount tire warranty but not sure if they will cover this. Might be time for 35's...

Great photos and looks like an awesome trip!!!

Personally, I would not run that damaged tire (especially since your sidewalls are only 2-ply).

I'm with ya. Thanks for the thoughts. I am within spec for Discount tire warranty so I'll report back on if they cover the value or not. Can't imagine they will swap all 4 for me lol. The warranty does say no disqualifications, so I am hoping Off-Roading falls under that.

I think you'll be good. To me it doesn't make sense to not cover a tire that was damaged doing something the truck/tire were intended to do. You might see if they'll at least give you a trade in on the others so you can upgrade the entire set... Good luck!

    Cool trip.
Looking forward to seeing what they’re going to do for you with that tire.

Discount should cover a replacement. Their certificate program covers any damage.

Discount tire covered me no questions asked. Threw a new one on this rim, swapped my full size spare to another rim both on rear axle and popped on the most used tire to my spare. $44 out the door, well worth the warranty every time. First time using it on this set of Ridge Grapplers, my last set of Nittos on my tacoma went through 3 tires through warranty. This'll get me another year or so then 285/75/18s
