As the title states I am looking to improve my suspension and lift/level my truck. I want to put 34” tires that are 11” wide without rubbing at all. At the same time as the lift I would like a kit that would improve the everyday ride a bit. Budget is $1000. What should I be looking at? I am a complete idiot when it comes to this stuff. I just know what I want. Lol

Welcome, Bilstein 5100s and rear shackles should do it, go a little over your budget and upgrade to 6112s for even better ride, you might need different wheels or spacers to avoid rubbing on the 34s

EDIT: I assumed your SUSPENSION budget was $1000. Assume $1500 for good (not top tier) wheels and tires on top.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but you had better save up some more money. I just leveled my truck with bilstein 5100's, put 34'' tires on and wheels, and it cost me $3250! Parts alone are gonna cost you over $1000 easily...

Second this. My front coilovers were $1100, used rear shocks $275, shackles $150, 295/70R18 (34”) tires $1300, wheels $1100. Not trying to brag, just letting ya know what it can realistically cost.

What these dudes said. A single G note barely gets you wheels. Wheels and tires should be at least 2 grand. That will cover parts and labor.

Am I reading this right? Or is this supposed to be "Desert Truck Unlimited"?

From my understanding, he isn’t including wheels and tires for 1g. 1g for suspension is reasonable and can be done. That is what OP is asking for.

Well, let's put it this way...If his budget is $1000 for suspension, and lets say $2500 for wheels and tires, why pigeon hole yourself into $1000 only for suspension?

First off... Why? Is this supposed to be something performance oriented or is this just for the look?

Second... What do you plan to do with your truck?

    You can do this:
    Or this: https://boss-offroad.com/i-30498921...ra.html#!year=2014||make=TOYOTA||model=TUNDRA

Those will give you slightly beefier shocks and a lift. It's basic, but it's within your budget. I'm not sure how much more comfort you'll get, but you should get some more.

Other option would be doing 6112 in the front, saving up more and doing the rears later.

So if I went to $1500 on the suspension what would I get. I don’t know this stuff.

Your next tier will be about 2k-ish for shocks. The next step though would be adding upper control arms. Those are about $700. You'll get better alignment spec and more down travel which will add to the comfort and control.

Ok so what would you do in the 2k range. I’m just looking at my options and what I get out of each. Defiantly wouldn’t go more than 2kish.

For 2k-ish, you can do the OME nitrochargers with the dakar leafs and spc arms. For a mostly street driven truck that sees some occasional hard pack fire roads not going very fast, this would probably be all you need honestly. It's a full replacement system. I don't have any experience with it, but there are some here that have it.

Get OME 2.5” lift with 2612 coil springs, Dakar full leaf packs and SPC UCA’s. That’ll cost you about $2K and will do all you need and then some. You can try the lift without the ICA’s and see if you can get the desired alignment but if not, you’ll need the UCA’s ($650).

Op, be specific, Year, SR5, TRD, etc?
Budget friendly will only get you a spacer/leveling kit for a simple bolt installation.... ie. Ready lift, Southern Truck lift,

    https://www.extremeterrain.com/sout...-inch-front-rear-leveling-lift-kit-45006.html

hate to say it-Rough Country, tough Country, Daystar....you get it...entry level 2-4" lift to clear said 34in tires.
That budget will be depleted in no time...oh yeah, a alignment is imminent after lift installed.
so good luck or wait until tax time if funds are low and save a little more for a package deal.
Good luck and keep us posted.

My next upgrade (hopefully next year) will be something like the OP is describing, but I'll be going with 275/70-18 tires (33"). I also am sort of on a budget and was considering ELKA coilovers. There isn't much info on them here but they are made in Canada, all aluminum, rebuildable etc. and their entry level front coilovers for 0-3" of lift plus rear shocks comes to 1850 CAD. Just the front coilovers are 1300 CAD (close to 1000 USD). They have fancier bigger shock tubes and remote reservoir etc for more money obviously, but the rep at ELKA said that the basic "OEM upgrade" 2" IFP coilovers with 650# springs (stock front bumper) would really help smooth out the ride on my road (terrible dirt road) and give me better performance when going hunting and fishing offroading etc.

    just another option for ya...

I use my truck primarily for hunting. I too was on a somewhat tight budget.

I did Eibach Pro Truck shocks and coils, set at the highest setting. I think I’m at about 2.5” of lift. I also did the Icon expansion pack on the rear, which lifted the back about an 1” (I have a topper).

All told I was into it $900, and I did the install.

A buddy of mine rode in it and said it’s a huge upgrade over his TRD Offroad package.

You can spend as much as you want to, but you also have to factor in what you NEED. Lots of guys think you need way more than you do. If I was on an unlimited budget, I’d spend way more, but the reality is I sure as heck don’t need it.

    Tastefully enhanced...
Ironman lifts are another option...simple and right...that will likely be the option I explore when I need more clearance...tall and skinny tires are the best tho so 34s are a win!

What you say about overdoing it is a human idiosyncrasy...my wife's Icon'd 4runner is one good looking minivan that rarely sees bumps...too bad, I could've spent the cash on the truck!

It’s outside the OPs budget, but the more I read on these the more intrigued I am.

Ironman felt... cheap to me. I got to ride in a Taco with full Ironman and it wasn't anything special, IMO. Cheap valving, small shaft, small oil capacity, lots of shock fade, really stiff, uncontrolled, bleh. Dude who owned it was smiling and super stoked to be wheeling on the suspension. He asked me what I thought, but I couldn't bring myself to possibly wreck his day. I just told him it felt solid and commented that he was driving really well. If you're ignorant on anything better, you'll probably be happy though.

Interesting. Never rode in one. Never rode in something that had Fox, King, ADS etc. I have no doubt all of them would ride better than my Eibachs. Guess it all depends on how high your standards are and how much you’re willing to spend in order to get where you want to be.

Have since gone to OEM Kings all around and the Icon expansion leaf pack to get some rake back in the truck for when I load my 2 dirt bikes in the back.

I like the stock rims as well. You can probably do the tires for 12-1400, depending on tax, road hazard, etc.

Yes, absolutely. Those things come with their price tag for a reason. In ANY application, be it dedicated street, 100% off-road, dd/weekend-warrior, towing or, whatever, the top-tier stuff will perform vastly more superior (get them tuned). It's up to the user to decide if the decrease in performance is acceptable to save money. Unfortunately, the performance gap between the top-tier and off-the-shelf shocks is rather huge.

    Tastefully enhanced...
I had Eibach on my 4runner and than transferred to an Icon setup and it's day and night different...though, the rebuild costs or costs of ownership always surprises me in that it's never discussed...I spent $2700 on the 4runner setup and after 45k miles, had to spend another $900 for a rebuild and refill...kinda felt like a kick in the nuts but made sense...things last longer if used to their intent...though 45k miles was a lot from what I hear on their remote-resi 2.5 setups...

Either way, perhaps OME is still the shining, most reliable setup one could think for "basic." I'd love King's OEM setup but...spend a lot for a standard stance...though it can be augmented some...just thinking out loud...not trying to bash at all...
