Has anyone ever used Epic 4x4 Offroad in Lewisville, TX for installation needs?

I am fairly new to upgrading trucks and have about $10,000 worth of accessories I need installed (didn’t know a lot of places won’t install unless bought through them).

I am obviously wanting a reliable yet affordable installation but don’t want to go to a plumber for mechanic work.

Wondering if anyone has ever used this company? If so, your thoughts?

Any other Dallas area companies you would recommend?

    Thanks ahead of time.

I know nothing about Epic 4x4. BUT, All Out Offroad, here in Pearland Texas, installed my Pro Comp 6" lift, which I purchased elsewhere. Excellent work, very reasonable labor prices, and excellent follow up. And, they have a location in North Richland Hills!

    Thanks!

Just sent them an e-mail with my installation list to see what they quote it at. I have had anything from $85/hr to $125/hr.

Tandem in Haltom city and Goodes off road in rowlett are the two that get the most praise. I have zero experience with them personally because I just put my parts on myself

Get ready for sticker shock from Tandem! My buddy got an estimate from them & it worked out to about $175/hr & a 2 month wait. I think it was $5,500 for front/rear ARB's & gears. He already bought the rear ARB so their quote was not including buying that.
I do all myself so I can't give any rec's.

Unless it’s custom fabrication work or something really specialized, I’d imagine most any reputable mechanic shop should be able to install aftermarket upgrades. I don’t think you’d necessarily need to go to a dedicated 4x4 shop to add most upgrades.

The local mechanic near me (Walton’s Total Car Care in Waxahachie) once quoted me $200 to install pre-assembled Bilstein 6112 coilovers (ended up installing them myself). And Hall’s Tire Shop in Lancaster charged me $20 for me to use their coil spring compressor cage to assemble them. Just thought I’d mention those examples as another option if you think it might help.

Anyway, I’m also curious to hear what accessories you’ve accumulated to add to your Tundra. Sounds like it’s going to be quite a build!

Walton's has given me crazy high estimates over the years. They told me $200 to do the same thing & to leave them w/them & they'd get to them in the next 2-3 days. Uh, nope. Hall's told me $50 each about 4 months ago.
I used a place on 77 across from The Greenery (not Pete's). It's a big tan 4-5 bay shop. They swapped my coils from one set of shocks to another for $40 & they were really nice people.

Ive used Frisbee Auto in 'Hachie for my truck and my wife's Cruiser. They do some insane overland rigs. Probably not the cheapest, but they do great work.

Also, good to see some fellow Ellis County members on here.

I thought $200 was fair to install front coilovers, but 2 to 3 days is way too long. I ended up installing them in my apartment parking lot with regular hand tools. With a lift and the best tools at their disposal, it shouldn’t take them no more than a couple hours at a leisurely pace.

Not sure why Hall’s was charging so much to swap coils. I know the owner, so he let me use their coil cage myself for $20. I figured they’d charge $40 to do it themselves - only took me 5-10 minutes tops to do 6112s. But $50 each is kind of high, which is surprising considering their labor rates have been the cheapest I’ve found anywhere, and the reason why they’ve always had a long wait. It’s been awhile since I’ve been to them, though, so maybe they’ve changed ownership?

I’m interested in that other place you mentioned. Do you know the name of it? Is it Featherston’s?

Absolutely! We should have an Ellis County get together some day and check out each other’s trucks.

Also good to know about Frisbee Auto. I hadn’t heard of them before. Will have to drive by and hopefully check out some of the rigs they’re building. Do you know if they do any fab work like bumpers and sliders?

Yes, they do a ton of custom stuff. Check out some of their videos on YouTube. Mike is known in Cruiser circles as one of the best overland builders in the state. Really detailed mechanics. Ive seen several of their builds up close and they do some great work. Do very detailed service work as well.

Very good to know, especially since they’re local. I’m interested in sliders and bumpers and had reached out to another shop in Arlington about fab work. I’ll have to check out those videos you mentioned.

I used to have an FZJ80 (Lexus LX450) that I did a ton of work to. I heard about Frisbee back then. When I was on my search for somebody to swap springs on my shocks I went by there. They told me they don't own a spring compressor. WHAT?!?

Walton's told me $200 to swap the springs only. I had the set of coilovers in my hand, not on the truck. Put CO's in spring compressor, compress, remove 1 nut, swap springs, tighten 1 nut & remove from compressor. That's it. $200 & 2-3 days.
The other place is Featherston's! I couldn't remember the name. They did, for $40 & 15 minutes, what Walton's said would be $200 & 2-3 days.

Wow, $200 just to swap springs is very high. Maybe I misunderstood them when I asked for a quote to install coilovers. That was a few years ago, though.

Interesting that Frisbee has no spring compressor. Maybe they outsource that work to one of the shops nearby?

Still have pics of the LX450 you used to have?

I had forgotten about this until I drove by Frisbee this morning while on my way to someplace else. I was really impressed with the cool Toyota 4x4 rigs they had parked at their shop!

I called them later today to inquire about a 1” Toytec shackle install for my Tundra, but they told me they only install suspension parts that they source themselves, not parts that I order on my own and give them to install. I was kind of disappointed by that, but I’m guessing it may be a liability concern for customer-sourced parts.

Anyway, they had a really nice, well-built Landcruiser along with a nice 4Runner, too.

Check out lifted 4x4 in Lewisville Tx , I am getting my 4 runner built there. They are pretty reasonable, and give discount on combo items.

I am getting Dobinsons Suspension setup , SPC UCA , ARB front bumper installed, Winch , method 315 wheels and Nitto tires etc etc.

Stopped by again yesterday to inquire about some work needed for my wife’s ‘07 Lexus GX470 and saw these really cool rigs.
