Ok. So now that spring is slowly coming I am starting to gather info on supercharging my truck and can use some assistance
A little background. I have a 2019 TRD PRO. It has 26k miles on it. I plan on keeping it for a long time. I do not do any towing/ hauling or off roading. Its a pavement princess in every sense. I have done a bunch of mods myself but a supercharger is not something I want to even try. I would rather leave that to a professional who has the proper equiptment and experience. The truck is not lifted, has the stock suspension, stock exhaust, i installed front and rear TRD swaybars, had Ridge Grapplers installed (295s),installed a Hikeit throttle controller and installed a S&B cold air intake which I hope can be fitted into the suoercharger (not fond of K&M)It still has the OEM brakes and I will consider a big brake kit when I burn through them.
Is there anything else I should be doing before being supercharged???
I want to go with the Magnusson TVS 1900 and there is a performance shop about 20 minutes from me that is a certified dealer/installer of Magnusson. The shop is BPR, Big Power Racing
Is there anything I should be asking them??
Can you explain to me what is a tune and do I need to get that done too??
    Magnussons site says no
Also the site says its a closed system and doesnt need any maintenance ever. Is this real world??
    Thanks for any feedback.

As far as I know there aren't any hard "prerequisites" for getting a blower as long as your engine is healthy. The shop doing the install will check this before installing the kit. At 26K miles the engine shouldn't be a factor. You can always talk to the shop to see what they recommend. Maggie has some recommendations on their site:
    https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0...9-89-67-003_RevJ_Tundra_5.7L.pdf?v=1614361639

If the shop nearby does Maggie installs I would go with them. Unless you are pushing for top end performance the three supercharger kits, Maggie, Harrop, and Whipple, offer similar performance gains (~550Hp) before you need to start upgrading the intake, engine internals, and transmission. Brakes and traction bars are (arguably) quality of life as long as you aren't racing your truck at which point they become essential. Maggie also offers a three year warranty where the other two are only one year warranties. Also the Maggie is closest to the original OEM TRD kit.

Tuning may not be required but is recommended for things to run optimally. Tuning basically overwrites the ECU (truck's computer) with new parameters and instructions to allow it to deal with the increased airflow the supercharger provides. A computer is connected to your ECU via the OBD port for the overwrite to occur.

Without a tune the stock ECU pulls timing and dumps fuel (basically runs less efficiently) to preserve the engine. You are also leaving HPs on the table: untuned (Stage 1) gets you about ~450, tuned gets you to ~550ish (Maggie says 543 or somewhere there about. In your case I've not seen any untuned Maggies installed so I am surprised it is an option.

As far as maintenance Maggie says its prefilled and sealed so no maintenance is required. You can always double check with the shop performing the install. If it is sealed there isn't much you'll be able to do but on other brands you typically have to do oil and coolant maintenance at around 100K miles.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    I had 26k miles on my '20 when I installed my S/C.

it's a hoot. I love driving it. I am of similar vintage as you. I generally drive like an adult & mileage is "relatively" unaffected.

Get your shop to dyno tune it. it's worth the extra $700 or so. mine really came alive when I took it off of the stock tune.

My airbox is stock, so I don't know if your aftermarket box will affect the tune that comes with the Mag. I assume the inlet is still 3", so the tuner should be able to work with it.

there are no other preps. just keep the variables to as few as possible. cat-back exhaust does not affect tune...so I'm told. I use the TRD, like you. it sounds even better with S/C.

once you get it installed and tuned, there is not much to do. check the intercooler fluid & radiator...bubbles settle & you will need need to add a splash.

    budget?

$10k for all-in install. it will probably land around 8k.

then, plan on spending another $4k because you will start reading the threads here. it happens.

I'm @ 40k miles now. my only issues were install related - a couple hoses got loose. easy fix.

I am still new to all of this. from what I learned here, I asked my tuner to get me as much SAFE hp as possible. low AFR's when in the throttle. they delivered.

lots of trials & tribulations in the thread @omgboost pointed you to. dive in.

Traction bars (Caltracs) are your friend. it does not hook up in 2wd. in a fun way.

As @Saltyhero13 said...you smile EVERY time you drive it.

    Looking forward to it all
Im looking at the SDHQ traction bars so far. Watched some video last night
Will look into caltrac today while im at work.
I will order them and di the install as soon as i get a decent day here
Big brakes will be done in time.
Also ive been using BP 93 octane since I got the truck over 2 years ago so im already into that habit.

You'll need to post when you pull the trigger. It is always great to hear how owners respond to a S/C Tundra

Have the shop install an AFR gauge. In my opinion an AFR gauge and a tune are mandatory to help keep your engine alive, and are both a drop in the bucket compared to the cost of the supercharger, no excuse not to do them.

As mentioned I agree to budget for an AFR gauge, a boost gauge, custom tuning, an oil separator is nice to have, and any traction upgrades you may see yourself wanting in the future although not immediate necessary. As far as maintenance the oil in the blower should be changed somewhere between 100-150k miles from what I’ve seen. The Magnusons tend to eat through couplers as well, but that isn’t necessarily a maintenance item.

To run a magnuson with their provided tune, I would say 10k should cover it.

I just recently paid about $9,500 total for the Magnuson kit, sales tax, and install. I added a Radium PCV oil catch can and a Figs Engineering heat exchanger cooling tank. I think $10K will definitely be enough to get you taken care of.

Words cannot describe how perfect these engines are with a sc kit, I thought I was happy with headers and gears, but now after the sc kit, it's just wow, a vehicle that's size of a house shouldn't move this fast.

Sounds like I should be looking into traction bars as well for my SCed Tundra. Why did you choose SDHQ over Caltracs? It looks like it's 3x the price.

Whatever this forum told me to do
given what we will ask them to do. I think both products will perform well

I’m ok with my caltracs. Now that I’m all adjusted and such

If you like fiddlin with stuff. Get the caltracs. If not. Get the sdhq

I went with SDHQ because of exactly what nobodyintexas stated. I am very mechanically inclined but by no means am I a motorhead. The SDHQ seemed like a more straight forward install and I like the set it and forget it. Im pushing 55 and just wanted to get under the truck to do the install and not adjust it constantly. Also there is something unique in the design of the front brackets to help with handling. There is an excellent video on youtube giving an overview on the SDHQs
