Anyone that has a few days free and a little mechanical experience the supercharger install is very easy and comes with a step by step instruction manual. Only thing I did not notice till I was filling out the warranty paperwork is that the install has to be performed by an ASE Certified mechanic for the Magnuson warranty.

    THIS!!!

. Unless your truck is over 36k mile then it doesnt matter. From what I understand, the Magnuson warranty only applies to the first 36k of the odometer reading.. not when you install it.

Yes I believe you are true on that, it is in the manual as i remember. Don't know if that applies to craftmanship of parts for the warranty also.

From GA it’s not that far. Much closer than I am and it was worth the trip. It took them a couple of days. The cost of the s/c plus installation was $8000.

Have them ship you the supercharger out of state, so there is no sales tax, then bring it with you for the install. I would assume shipping is cheaper the tax. Lol

I belive the hardest part for your install would be the fuel pump, but only having 150 miles on it would make it easier. Run a tank of premium down to just about to empty and it will make it easier to who ever is installing the fuel pump.

Magnuson has not released the tune for the 2019 yet. I wanted to install it on mine pre-delivery.

I think Magnuson released the kits in August of 2016 and I purchased directly from them during their Black Friday sale the same year. 10% off $6381.35 shipped, and installed it myself over a weekend.

Excuse me fellas, I'm new here and have what may be a potentially stupid question, but an obvious answer is eluding me so here goes:
Can someone tell me why they don't make a SC for the 4.6 v8? I mean, after all, they have one for the v6. Thanks In advance for any info on this.

My guess is it's a numbers game.

So few 4.6 trucks out there, that it made little sense for Magnusen to develope something with such a small market.

My guess is they figured since you bought a 4.6 you don't like horsepower so you don't want more. :boink:

Haha. I guess I earned that one. What can I say, that's the motor it came with. Just couldn't pass up the fact that the truck was selling for 26,000 w/only 21k miles, which seemed like a good deal

Any of you guys tow with a supercharger? I tow a heavy load at high elevation several times throughout the summer (travel trailer). Curious as to how it pulls

The extra power makes it nice to tow with but it will still let you know at the gas pump. I suggest also getting the TRD Big Brake kit so you can stop the heavier loads as well. My truck will pull like a diesel but the tongue weight is where you need to pay attention.

Towing is the number one reason I installed mine. The loss of power at elevation is noticable just as if you were NA. That said you still have plenty more to get the job done. Honestly the truck gets the same mpg before and after if you can resist the urge to play with the extra power. Where it really shines is in the rolling plains and such. I just got back from the Black Hills towing 10K running and holding 5th gear across the rolling plains(hills) of SD MN and IA...Just under 8mpg average.

My towing story matches @MrMax can easily hold 5th gear thru most hills and on steep incline 4th is more then plenty to tow at 65+ mph. On occasion, under a steeper incline, 5th would pull it, but the tranny would heat up a bit, so would need to drop to 4th to cool it down.

Thanks. I was considering a diesel for towing but might look at supercharging first. I do have 37’s but am regeared to 5.29’s

I have 4.88s in mine, with 35's The only reason I would want a diesel would be for gas mileage. On my 4000 mile trip towing the whole way, I averaged about 8-9 mpg.

Diesel might only get slightly better, but not enough to warrant the extra money in initial cost and overall maintenance

The difference.. right now... Would be cost of fuel. With a SC you must run premium. Quite a bit more in cost than diesel. Also, my brothers Dodge is getting 11-13 mpg towing which is 25+% increase. Which does add up

There’s some other fine print in there as well. Truck basically has to be untouched aside from the SC. Add an exhaust and they’ll void it. Biggest threat is the tune, the reflash that comes with the magnuson is trash so one of the first things anyone should do is retune it. Once you do that your warranty is over lol.
