Just wondering if anyone's had any luck replacing a "grade" plastic bumper with something like this from eBay? Not sure if it's a plug-n-play, easy and durable replacement, or if there's something I'm missing.

Mine is freaking rusted bad. The price seems decent compared to a Toyota one.

What’s a decent step up bumper to replace what came with mine? I’ve got a grade 2010.

Depends on what you're looking for in a bumper. If you just need a new bumper, I'd check the usual scumbags (offerup/craigslist/fb). Tundie owners always ditching their oem stuff for 4x4 bling  Heck, I'd sell you the chrome bumper off my limited if you were closer. :D

I replaced my dented rear bumper with a cheap one about that price off carparts.com. overall it fits fine and does exactly what I was looking for.

Just be careful handling it and use gloves as some of the edges are a little sharp.

I had one of those for a year until the Toyota dealership backed my truck into a pole... dudes didn’t even replace my damn plastic trim lol. I paid $65 for the Chinese bumper with a tiny ding a year or two ago. It had surface rust inside but wasn’t too bad I’d recommend spray painting the inside with rustoleum primer in black to prevent that from happening. Toyota gave me a new bumper and put it on after my ordeal, it sucked not the best customer service

Or buy a DV8 bumper there around $800 , and complete garbage for the money and when you look on eBay you'll see the same bumper but with out a riveted DV8 tag for $380 and then it all makes sense.

I Would look around at know name brands , also whats your goal with the bumper , looks , added recovery options , strength , Honda protection? Avoiding HOA fees due to a Honda eatting your bumper an the cost to fix it is more than sturdy bumper for future hondas o_O and you HOA doesn't like any vehicle damaged thats not parked in a garage but yet your massive tundra yacht wont fit in a the tiny garage.(story of my front bumper:eek::eek2:)

:monocle: But after thinking about your use case list em and I'll try to help ;)

Truthfully I’m just looking for a black step bumper that makes getting in easier for me and my boys. If it looks like it belongs there, all the better! We go out camping and kayaking every summer but that’s about as much off-road action as the truck sees.

The original "like stock" replacement should be fine but here are a couple options that might suit better if your just looking for a better step in the rear for access into the bed.

    ED04048E-D30B-41B5-B044-BBE583DC8123.jpg
if you have a unused hitch receiver and commonly step over the tail gate in the up position this is a great budget friendly option , doesnt work well if your tail gate is down. (Recommend using a key locking hitch pin)
    DAFD20E5-3777-4BEA-83BA-1A45D5B759F8.jpg
if you do more with the tail gate down this universal option will always work , down side is it screws into the tail gate and has to be folded maybe using a couple inches of bed space
    0DEBB64B-A9F8-4BA7-903C-81918059BD50.jpg
this option is from AMP research , its a under side of the bumper mount step thats powered and folds up to tuck under (if rear clearance is a issue) but from other companies if rear clearance is not a issue you can get static non moving ones for in $80 . The plus to this style is works with tail gate up or down and doesn't compromise space any were.

If you want a actual bumper to replace the old one , I'm sure the ebay one will do it looks like the common SR5 bumper works great for tail gate up but doesnt do much for tail gate down option. There are some companies like Rough country and few others that make a off road rear bumper with steps cut into the sides in the $500-$800 range if you don't mind spending some $.
