I want to run a box/boxes behind the back seat of my 16 platinum crew max.

I have seen some pre fab 2 woofer boxes that fit behind the backseat. I was wondering if any of you with a 14-16 crewmax have any experience with these?

I plan on running fosgate r2d2 10 in woofers that only require .59 cf each.

Also, have any of you used the space under the seats, including the air volume that is inside the seat itself?

    Any opinions welcome

    Thanks

I don't know how the dimensions of usable space work out for your year, but I would recommend seeing if you can get one larger box instead of 2 smaller ones to fit.

If you can get 1.35 ish cubic ft of internal volume that would be a decent ported box for that sub.

Would only need one sub, the frequency response is really flat if tuned to about 34-36 hz. And you'll have more output with less power.

I've worked with similar drivers and they came to life when put in a properly tuned box. The Rockford r2d2 models suggests the same is quite likely.

    Just some food for thought.
Sorry I can't help you with your main question.

I just finished installing a JL stealth box in my Crewmax. I have always been a big fan of JL products. This is my first experience with their shallow mount subs. I have it powered by a JL XD 600/1 and must admit this thing sounds amazing. Not cheap but you get what you pay for with JL in my opinion.

I’d definitely use the dead space behind the rear seats, remove the white foam padding behind the black vinyl and stick a thin layer of sound deadener across the whole bare metal, then MLV or put the black vinyl back. That’s a great start to reducing exterior noise.

This leaves enough for a box that is 12” height, 7” depth bottom, 4” depth top. Checkout Tech12Volts custom sub enclosures and his subs designed for Tundras.

I wouldn’t use under the seat as that’s usable space like for ESP.

And your 3rd option of inside the seat isn’t really viable, there’s not enough space and/or no padding that you would want to remove.
