    Hello!

I have 2019 Tundra that I purchased new in November. In the last week, I have had a very strange noise (harsh whine) occur when the key is turned to accessory and/or when the key is removed after turning off the engine. I have attached a recording of the whine below.

Have any of you experienced this before? If not, could anyone offer help as to what it might be?

    I have one question.

Was there a person sitting in the truck holding a trumpet when this happened?

    :poking:

I have no idea. Mine has not made that sound.

I ripped one of those last night. My wife gets to hear the show everyday. I am somewhat of an expert in the field of flatulence. That being said....i have no idea what that sound is...coming from your truck. I know what it sounds like though.

Very strange. Is there a list of everything that initializes or activates when the key is turned to that position?

At least you’d have a list to go by.

I am not sure. Thing is, if I just start the truck quickly, it makes the sound then, too. Truck runs and starts just fine, but the sound is annoying as hell.

Also, I had to amplify the sound so that you could hear it better. It isn't as loud as the recording.

Apologies, we like to have some fun on here. It is a suspicious sound.

I hope the dealer can rectify (no pun intended) easily.

Sounds like a leaf stuck in the cab filter somewhere. Or a very tiny Chewbacca. I vote for Chewy and let it stay!

Question: Do you have electric seats? If so noise could be generated from the seat motor or something mechanical in the seat. Also kind of jives with key function.

My driver's side is electric, but not the passenger. The noise almost sounds like it is coming from the steering wheel column on the other side of the dash.

Anyway, I have an appointment with the dealer for May 10th. I played the recording on the phone for the service manager and he said it is definitely not normal. Hopefully, nothing goes wrong between now and two weeks!

No I meant someone might be pranking you. But after seeing the video... I am not sure.

    Update:

So, now it appears that the intermentness of this is regulated to the morning after sitting, and not all the time. Once it is warmed up, the sound does not happen. And now, a new development. It also is making the sound when I switch my climate control dial selector to different positions: full-vent, vent-floor, floor, etc

    WTF?

I think the actuator doors move when you shut off and start the truck. Even the recirculation door will not stay closed. Sounds like you have a bad actuator and you are hearing it when it’s cold. Next time you start it when it’s cold see if you can replicate it by turning off the recirculation or blend door from feet to face as well as defrost.

Update* Well, since posting this and dropping it off on Friday for the PCS update, it didn't make the sound once. As new as the truck is, I didn't want them getting into the dash if it isn't a constant problem. So, I told them not to worry about it at this point. It has been documented and they have a copy of the video with the sound of it, so if/when it gets worse, I can have them go to work.

Could be the Blending door I think its called, in the HVAC. I had that same thing in a company vehicle once and it was temperature dependent. The dealership lubed some link and it fixed it. Just what I have experienced, sounds the same.
