    Hi Everyone,

I just bought a 2017 Crew Max. I'm planning on putting either an Extang Solid Fold 2.0 or Extang EnCore tonneau cover on.

What I'm looking for advice on is how to store my essentials under the tonneau cover. I'm looking to store a trolley jack, jumper cables, roadside kit, some hand tools, 4-way tire iron, breaker bar, etc. under the tonneau somehow.

What have you came up with so far? Any good tool boxes that fit under? Big plastic tubs for ease? Just looking to gather any good advice before purchasing stuff.

    - Jim

That's nice! I agree though. You're looking at a pretty penny for that setup. Would be really nice though...

I use a 5 gal. paid from Lowe's secured to the tie downs at the back side of the bed. Simple, cost effective and easy to upgrade if I need to.

I went with the Bakflip and the Bakbox . . . and then an Amp Research Max Extender . . . which I use to keep toolboxes and such nicely organized and settled in . . .

My brother uses a heavy rubber tote secured with bungees to the tailgate end of his Silverado. Very similar to your setup. May end up going that route.

I use a Plano sportsman trunk. It's a little more heavy duty than a regular tote and the lid latches down. I have the medium size and it holds everything you described (other than the jack) with room to spare.

    Still rocking the stock height.
I have a rubber tote held in place with some bungees at the tailgate. I have a jump pack with air compressor and some towels in it. The. I got a small tool box to hold the other bungees held with a bungee at the tailgate.

OP I was in the same situation as you. I wanted to store all those things in my truck. I did extensive amount of research and came to the conclusion of an extang Encore as well as a tonneau mate toolbox. The extang Encore was installed on my truck and turned out to be a piece of crap! Water leaked in the back and it just felt cheap, then the tonneaumate wasn’t compatible so I was left with all those options others are suggesting. All in all it was their fault telling me the 2 would be compatible I returned the items free of charge.

Soon after I discovered the Diamondback. It had everything I wanted including open from the front where I wanted my toolbox to be located. Opened from the rear where I would be able to grab something from my trunk. And most importantly, security was SOLID! Locked by bars that locked into my factory toyota rail system. Lifetime warranty as well. They also sold a toolbox compatible with their cover, so I purchased that. The downside, cost at almost 2 grand.

I went in on it almost a year ago and I couldn’t be happier. It has everything I wanted in a tonenau, and I love the toolbox! I have not found one con yet believe it or not. No water leaks AT ALL, comes off in 4 quick bolts if you need to use the bed of your truck.

I actually heard of so many people asking about the Diamondback so I made a video on it if your interested you can view it here.

    Good luck with your search.
