    Sorry if I missed the thread but here is my question;

    Stock tires, getting close to 5k and 1st service, should I go with a 5 tire rotation or a 4 tire rotation. No plans to change my tires anytime soon, want to get what I can out of them and then maybe see what happens. What are the pro & cons of both?

    Thanks in advance for your time:popcorn:

    This is how I rotate my tires every 5k miles or so. I don't touch my spare tire.
    Just how I've always done it.

    I think your spares are mounted on cheaper wheels (I am not sure if they even have the same brand tires). If you want 5 tire rotations, you probably should match the tires and wheels.

    You dont want to include the spare - too much variance in tread. The spare is for emergencies only. even if you do have to use it you should in most cases immediately replace the opposite side tire as well so you don't create a high traction pivot point.

    I agree with 4 tire rotation only on stock tires. You can only do a 5 tire rotation when the wheels and tires are all the same. Different wheel and/or tire can cause vibrations and uneven tire wear.

    On my 2014 Tundra SR5 DC, the spare tire has the same exact tire as the other 4 it was just mounted on a dummy rim. I found this out when I drove over something that tore through where the tread and sidewall meet. I was sort of surprised that it was the same brand, type, rating etc.. but again its a truck that has to tow/haul putting something different could cause issues driving especially for people who cant afford a quick tire change. When I got my aftermarket wheels and tires I made sure the spare was the exact same.

    My spare is not only a different brand (Michelin instead of Bridgestone), but it is a different size and different wheel. 4 wheel rotation for me!

    How do you factor tpms into a 5 tire rotation?

    I don't recall the spare having a tpms sensor. The receiver only picks up 4 sensors. So it won't matter. Just make sure whatever 4 tires are aired up.

    My Rav4 and 4Runner reads 5 sensors. PIA to make sure the spare is inflated in the winter. 99% of the time the dummy light is because of a deflated spare.
