So update from the “What’s in the box?” pic I posted a few weeks ago…

    Truck Info: 2001 4.7 SR5 4x4 with 330k

Finally got most of the work done that I’ll call stage 1.

Work is done with all New OEM parts, equal or better:

JBA Cali Legal Headers with heat wrap
All new Denso O2 sensors front and back
    Motor and transmission mounts
gaskets on oil pan and tranny
    tranny shifter bushing spacer
    rear main seal
    Transfer case drop spacer kit
    oil pump and seals
    OEM Timing kit and seals
    Water pump kit
Upgraded new Denso Sequoia 150 amp alternator and harness
    12 hole injectors upgrade
    Fuel Filter
Denso A/C compressor, condenser, dryer and switch.
Full flush of all fluids, radiator, PS, oil, tranny, transfer case and diff. etc…

Redline 75w/140 Diff and transfer cases ( went thicker due to mileage) OEM Toyota for Transmission fluid

    JBA upper control arms
    Spindle gussets welded
    Eibach lift springs (PN: 31 82 066 04 FA)
    KYB top hats
    Lower Ball Joints
    Moog Lower control arms
    Tie rod ends
Energy suspension bushings on entire suspension
    Power steering rack
ADDCO 2181 1’ rear sway bar kit
    500lbs. helper springs
    Toyotec AAL
    1 inch lift blocks
    Bilstien 5100’s all around
    1’ wheel spacers

All in all, driven it for a few days now and I love it!
Turns are tighter, more mid and high-end power.
Everything runs smooth but brakes are lacking due to weight shift on hard stops.
I have the 14 wa upgrade getting milled now to be ready for next install round.
Front and rear sway bar are getting quick disconnects for off-road flex when needed.

This is my daily in SoCAL and it sees the freeway a lot more than anything.

Basically this all started with my A/C starting to go out a few months ago and quarantine started…

Went down the rabbit hole of forums, eBay, Amazon, and other sites, well one thing lead to another and this ended up being a basic full rebuild and upgrades minus head gaskets.

I just bought the truck in November and it’s one of the best cars I’ve had in the last 20 years.

Only thing wrong was that it needed a new A/C compressor everything else was preventive and upgrades.

Next up is new front and rear bumpers and rock sliders, solar and dual battery kit, paint, and rhino lining.
Also a few other goodies that I have in mind.

Thanks to all you guys for the support and info across all the sites!

I hope you enjoy the pictures!

You went all in at one time and the truck loves you for it.

First trip out and everything went pretty great!

Love the new suspension and rear sway bar helped in the canyons.

First time ever taking the truck out to play!

Looking forward to more fun times!

Only problem: Still on stock 13 wa brakes and you could feel the brake fade and I think I warped the rotors by the end of the canyon drives. Have 14wa set up to install with new SS lines and looking at brake masters now.

If you have any personal insight on what is a good brake master upgrade let me know!

For your 150 amp alt swap did you use a factory sequoia harness or just run a new bigger charge wire?

Nice Build. I want to emulate this build. What wheels & tire size you got on it?

honestly, I kinda don't want to think about it so I haven't added it up yet.

Got most of everything off looking at forums, Amazon returns, eBay, and stuff like that.
I know I got everything well below retail but it was during the lockdown so one part at a time, and since I was changing one thing that lead to another and another...

My guess would be around $2500??

Sorry just re-read this, i thought you asked total price...

I'm on factory FJ Cruiser 17' wheels and 285/70/17 Duelers

Use the El Fluido Suprèmõ Bosch 5.1 when you do your brake bleed. One man bleeder valves are nice, but not sure about the size on those bigger brakes. Call NAPA and work it with them. Might as well rebuild your rear drums cylinders while you are at it, as you seem like an all in do all the first time guy.

I did my initial total system bleed with a fresh Bottle of DOT 3 and followed it up with El Suprémõ. Bought two cans just in case. Used one full can exactly. Second can waiting for next time or other car.

You can check my build page for most of the drum cylinder parts etc.

So I did another thing today...

I need to go to sleep on time instead of going down the rabbit hole...

Going on the shelf until I get more parts collected to do the rear

I had one of those installed on my 2002 17 years ago... it's still working as advertised. I had purchased 3 of them, and eventually sold the other 2 off as the years passed.
