I just want to make everyone aware that when you buy a My SR5 from the dealership that they can change things on the truck at the dealership and turn it into an SR5 appearance!

That happened to me! When I looked at the Toyota website and checked out what was listed as standard equipment, mine was missing a few things that were listed as standard equipment, but not installed on my truck. The factory said it should have Active spoiler and radiator shutters. The specs also said it should have engine and body protection panels Underneath. I was Able to get the factory build sheet and it showed the factory Installed the spray and bed liner, the floor Mats And running boards. They added those on as dealer options to the tune of about $2000. I started researching all this because my SR5 was supposed to be able to tow 11,300 lbs. When I took it back into the dealership the sales department kept telling me that it could tow 11,300 pounds but VIN number according to their factory rep could only tow 8300 lbs. the same as the SR. I would recommend that before you buy the truck you go on Toyota.com and see what the standard equipment is supposed to be on your truck and then check out and make sure that it is there. If you have a little red sticker on the inside of your door the dealership has added things. I have all the documentation to confirm everything I just stated.

SR5s tow over 11k pounds. SRs tow 8300. The window sticker would tell what model you bought.

    Nitrogen filled tires!
My SR5 w tow package was delivered per manufacturer spec. No issues and only mod was all-weather front/back floor mats - which are way better than OEM carpet.

The factory installed the bed liner, running boards and Mats were installed at the factory and part of the MSRP. They listed them as dealer added option to the tune of about $2000. I have the documentation from the factory! I have been researching this for about 6 months and have emails to back this up. I sent what I have to Corporate and they refused to talk to me about it.

If you have recently bought AR5 from Toyota I would recommend you go to their website and see what standard equipment is supposed to be and then see what you have on yours.

I had the sherifs office run all of my vin numbers, including the hidden one, and the sherif said that the truck was probably built durring the crossover from 24 to 25. I bought my truck in April of 25, I can't Believe that in April they were still building stock from 24.

Port add ones are a Toyota thing. Various regions are the worse. SET are tack on kings.

Every tack on whether port or by the buyer subtracts it's weight from the capacities. Just math.

    Alright, he has a point.

    upload_2026-3-2_21-40-49.png

Are you sure you don't have the active spoiler?
I didn't know my Limited had it until I manually lowered it and looked under the truck.

    upload_2026-3-2_21-43-17.png

You can't hear it deploy or retract while driving.
BTW it isn't anywhere on my window sticker...

does your sticker say electric windows, wipers, brakes, no because they are standard equipment. Toyota specs list them and all the rest that are supposed to be standard equipment. go to toyota.com and look up everything that is supposed to be standard equipment ands see if you have it.

I had a dealer do that to me. I walked in looking at a Chevy truck with the black out option. Everything was blacked out and it was supposed to have black wheels. They removed the black wheels and put chrome wheels on, I asked about it and they told me that's the way it came from factory. I called BS and left lol

Yes, my sticker lists standard equipment; it also reads at the top unless replaced with optional equipment.
So you're saying your new Tundra doesn't have electric windows, wipers, brakes?

It's the same info on the website, and neither mentions the Active spoiler or radiator shutters, or engine and body protection panels .
Although I do have them all, so my truck actually has more than what is on the sticker..

I really don't understand what your problem is, other than you didn't do your research before you bought the truck.
Is this the first new vehicle you've ever bought?

Replying to user 1776. Just to give you a little background I bought a 2025 Toyota Tundra Senior Five I thought. I was told it had a 11,400 pound towing capacity But when I towed my trailer that only weighed 6000 pounds I had a problem. I was getting a vibration when I was taking off after the truck had heated up and it was about 100 degrees that day The transmission started shuttering. I took it into the dealership and have them check it out and that's when factory Rep told me that the towing capacity of my truck was only 8300 pounds the same as an SR not an SR5 According to my VIN. I tried working with the dealership but they basically go and told me to go pound sand. Looking into the truck more online I found a variety of discrepancies with my truck! I got a copy of the factory build sheet from the dealership and it showed that they had installed the spray and bed running and floor mats at the factory and that would have been included in the MSRP that was listed for my truck. On my window sticker they said that the dealership added and to the tune of about $2000, that was already installed at the factory. After more research I found out that the SR 5 had standard equipment of the radiator shutters and front airfoil is standard equipment on the SR5 but not on the SR. I don't have either one of those. I happen to go to Autozone website and entered in my VIN and he came back showing that there was a SR5 and an SR with the same VIN. I went down to the Sheriff's Department and had them run all the VIN numbers on the truck, even the hidden ones, and he came back and said that my truck was probably put together during the time that they were changing over to 2025 from the 2024. I find it hard to believe that they were using 2024 Parts in September of 25. I think that somewhere along the way they had an SR And added the SR5 stuff that they can at the dealership to make it an SR5, that Is why it does not have the standard equipment for the SR5 installed. I have more examples of the discrepancies with my truck and the SR5 specifications from Toyota. I also have documentation to back up my statements.

@Shedguy1 post some pics of the truck and we will let you know.
Does it have an SR5 badge on the rear door, or any door badges for that matter?
Is the entire grille and surround black?
Does it have steel or alloy wheels?
Does the window sticker read SR or SR5?

Buying new or used. Buyer beware is something I learned early in life. Some lessons are best learned though experience. And never trust anyone to be honest about what they are selling.

This is what I'm thinking as well. The OP bought a SR with a few optional add-ons, and thought he was getting a SR5.

Does the truck have an SR5 emblem on the rear door?
Does the window sticker or your alleged build sheet read SR or SR5?
Mine reads LIMITED, that's what I bought.

Just my 2 cents… A new vehicle purchase is a large monetary transaction in my opinion. I research and do my homework on vehicles I’m considering to assist me in that decision. Typically I know more about the particular vehicle I’m looking at than the dealership salesman.. including when I bought my 3rd gen.

Same here, I tend to over-research any big purchase.
From firearms to my hearing aids, I usually know more about the product than the sales rep.

It is amazing how little some vehicle salespeople know about the products they sell.
I think it has to do with many of them going from dealership to dealership for work.
But every once in a while, you can find a good one.

I wonder if he did actually buy an SR, thinking it was an SR5.
The emblem is literally on the back door..:eek2:
