I have looked at the spec sheet on the brochure on Toyota's site, but am I missing anything if I were to go with an SR5 Crewmax vs the Limited Crewmax other than the main 3 of moonroof, dual climate, and leather? Just wanted to verify with you guys since I will be purchasing very soon. Also which SR5 packages adds Blind Spot Monitoring? Thanks in advance.

I went from a 2017 SR5 to a 2018 Limited. I do not regret it one bit. Definitely use my sunroof here in Cali. Use the dual climate all the time since wifey gets to cold. I have kids so the leather seats are way easier to clean.

As for blind spot monitoring I don’t know which packages adds in on SR5. I know the limited is standard

Convenience Package will get you parking assist, blind spot detection, rear cross traffic, color keyed rear bumper and requires the SR5 Upgrade package (38 gallon tank etc). I opted for the SR5 after driving them all and picked up the LED headlights after the fact for about $650 with the harness. I did NOT get the convenience package but wish I had some days. Goodluck with your decision!

**Edit this pertains to the SR5 model...based on window sticker from Toyota**

Do you like to mod your vehicles? How important is the sunroof? If you're going to change things and the sunroof isn't important to you, get the SR5 and build it the way you want it. If you just wanna buy it and drive it, get the limited.
    Might be the TSS package?

Limited Premium package I believe. My Limited is a "base" model no sunroof or sensors. I went Limited for dual climate, heated seats, and adjustable passenger seat for the wife plus I like the grill and mine being Silver Sky the chrome looks good on it to me.

I often regret not having sprung the small extra amount for the Limited vs SR5. Sure wish I had.

Just deciding between the two right now. We had a death in the family and inherited some money and are paying off our debt and paying off the wife’s Sienna and getting a new Tundra for me. She doesn’t wanna spend more than about 40-42k so I guess if I find a Limited Premium in that range that would work, but may have to go SR5. I definitely want blind spot and rear sonar, has to be 4WD CrewMax.

Limited premium. It’s a small difference in price for what you get. I think it’s the best package for the money and then you can mod it however you want. Just my 0.2 cents.

what I was saying was you wife wants to write a check for a new vehicle. I get it and I might agree. but that being said, if you can get some cheap financing from Toyota, Bank or Credit Union, I'd go that route. put a nice down payment on it and then use their money.

there should be several 18's still left out there. might have to drive to find it but it could be worth it.

When I was shopping for my 17, and kind of considering a 19 this summer, a Limited Premium is damn near the price of a Platinum or 1794. Roughly $53k sticker on Platinum and 1794 and right at $50k sticker on Limited Premium with sunroof.

    Sorry for your loss.

I really suggest sitting in them and driving them. I personally found the SR5 to be the most comfortable to drive. The Platinum was my favorite until the test drive. Its all subjective. I say do your homework, know what you need vs what you like, then figure out what people are paying in your area (truecar or whatever the kids are using these days). Platinum listed at 53k was going for 48K(+tax) by me. I got my SR5 out the door for under 39k. Would have liked leather, heated/cooled seats, auto fold in mirrors, blind spot detection, parking sensors, sunroof, and auto dual climate. At the end of the day i'll take my SR5 (even without the convenience package) and keep more than 9k in my pocket. Just see what works best for you as you really can't go wrong. These are great trucks across the board. As far as the finance deal, when i purchased it was EITHER 0.9 financing OR the rebate so it matters how long of a term your financing and how much of a down payment you'd have. I had a whole spreadsheet figuring out what the best options were. I opted for the rebate. Goodluck!

You should be able to get an outgoing 2018 Limited for around $42k.

Loving my SR5. Not a fan of leather though. It's hot and sticky in summer. I find I'm constantly adjusting the auto climate control in my vehicles that were equipped with it. Hardly can remember using heated seats in AZ and same goes for a sunroof. I never used my sunroof in the turd gen tacoma or in any other vehicle I have had. It is just another weak point on a vehicle that could eventually spring a leak that I'll never use. The SR5 isnt loaded in chrome. The SR5 comes well equipped with the right packages and theres something about the simplicity I actually appreciate in a truck. Most of the bells and whistles on a limited was just something I knew I wasnt going to miss for an extra 4 grand or whatever they wanted. If you had asked me that 10 years ago I probably would have had the opposite opinion but now that I've had several "loaded" vehicles I have vetted out my likes/needs.

Another big one for me was having leather steering wheel. Can’t get that in the SR5. I hate the non leather one.

This is a tough one and personal preference.

    I went from an '11 Platinum Crewmax to a '16 SR5 Crewmax.

Things I miss: Dual climate control, signals in the mirrors, power folding mirrors. That's it. It had black leather and I live in Central FL so they were always hot and the "vented" seats were a joke. It just blew hot air up your ass. It was also always slippery. I found myself always having to pick myself back up in the seat because I would slide forward.

Switching to the SR5 I like the cloth in that it keeps you still and is comfy but it is a pain to have to clean it all the time. The cloth seems to stain very easily. My SR5 has the Safety and Convenience and Upgrade package so I've got the Blind spot mirrors, Cross Traffic, sensors, power seat, 38 gallon tank, etc. Pretty much everything I wanted. I do miss the dual climate because my wife is always cold so I just bring a blanket when we go on trips or she closes her vents and I get more.

    I don't have a sunroof and don't want one so I don't miss that.

Just depends on what you want. The JBL "upgraded" stereo is a joke. I couldn't tell the difference between my old one and the new one.

If I were looking in the market now I'd probably go with a Limited Base. I just happen to get a hell of a deal on the SR5 that I couldn't pass up.

Make a small down payment and invest the rest. Should be able to pull in an additional 5-6% easily. Heck if you just go with a good dividend stock you can make a couple of % net of taxes. This is what I did even though I could have paid cash. I got 0% but incentives might have been different last year. I would go SR5 you can add leather, JBL stereo sucks, & most sunroofs end up leaking at some time.

I would say you're on the right track in researching and gathering opinions to aid in your considerations. I recommend definitely test drive a couple trims and ultimately go with what you want. Do not settle or allow the dealer to change your mind. If that stuff or a specific color is worth 4 or 5 grand more to you, get the one you want or good chance you'll be regretting it later. Sucks to regret a $40,000+ purchase.

Its the small things in the Limited that are tough to get aftermarket that are the reason I went that route:

    Auto up/down windows
    Heated seats
    Power front seats
    Leather steering wheel
    Glass breakage

Dealers are definitely motivated to sell their remaining 2018 so you can absolutely get a deal and if you aren't going to use the great APR, at least you can take advantage of the $3000 rebate.

Got a 2018 sr5 cm for 35k on 8/14/18. (Not including the paint protection, the under the car anti rust protection and door protectors) Will have to fork out 1700 for katskin tekstitch leather seats and if I really miss my convertible, it’ll cost me 1300 custom sunroof. Don’t need anything else.

Mines a 2016 sr5 with convenience package loaded with all the goodies the wife wanted so it was a no brainer to just get the sr5. Not to mention we got a great deal on it and didn't need all that extra stuff.

But ultimately it's up to you and what your needs and wants are..... drive them both, line them up next to each other and go with your gut feeling.

Well today I test drove a Limited Premium, TRD Off Road SR5, and the TRD Sport. I liked all three but the Limited just felt better on the road. I was really only there to test drive but the salesperson told me I could take it for an extended test drive and take it home for the day. The drive home confirmed that I really loved this truck. Got home and me and the wife installed the car seats and still had tons of room to her surprise. My 4 year old loved it and didn't want me to take it back. Took it back to the dealer after the Clemson game was over and talked numbers. I really just wanted to leave and head back home as I wasn't completely ready. Ended up telling them they had to come down on the price about $8k and they eventually did. So I signed the paperwork to reserve the truck for me until Saturday so that I can make a larger down payment once we get the check. So on Saturday I will officially own a 2018 Tundra Limited with Premium package in black with gray interior. Already has window tint and predator step bars. Will post a picture when I can. Thanks for all the advice.
