What is the significance of the SR5 logo? If it's not on the backside of the cab does that mean it's not an SR5?

Is what you are looking at new and on a dealer lot? I think most SR5's have it on the rear door panel area. I do believe a few packages on SR5's have been deleted but can't recall what packages. Kinda like some SR5's have 4x4 decal on tailgate and SR5's with TRD off road package dont.

On the ooooold Toyota’s it stood for sport ralley 5 and was a cool trim package. They ditched the meaning but kept the sr5 moniker.

    Welcome from NY.

I have the TRD Sport and the only SR5 logo I had was on the center console lid.

Welcome. SR5 is still a trim level, as far as I know, and there's a base model below it.

When I blacked-out my badges, the dealer said the "only way to do it" (sucker) was to order the replacement badges for a TRD Pro, which clearly isn't an SR5, and doesn't include the one behind the rear CM window.

I have only ever seen SR5 and Limited back there. All others have nothing (SR, Platinum, 1794...1492, whatever, and TRD Pro).

Here's some useless information to date me. I had a 1977 Corolla SR5. It was my first Toyota and it's what sold me on the brand. In the dead of winter it always started unlike the American junk from that time frame. Also Toyota used plastic clips on the fenders where as the American car companies would just drive a screw into the sheet metal. Any guesses which one would rust?

    What does sr5 stand for?
    Sport Rally 5

SR5 stands for Sport Rally 5 speed. SR5 stands for Sport, R as in engine family RE (EFI) & 5 as in 5 speed transmission. Somewhat correct with the above answer though not fully accurate. SR5 generally denotes a specifc Toyota trim level, with a more. sporty look, firmer suspension and wide flexibility for options.

Had the 74’ Corolla SR5 ‘5 speed’ 2 door and it got about 40 mpg. Great little car.

Interesting info about SR5 meaning. I do believe its the best option.

The 77 was more sporty than the 74 IMO . Mine was a turd brown 2dr coup that I painted primer gray. I didn't think the liftback looked as nice. Got it with over 100k on it and put another 100k on it before selling it. I took me a year to get brave enough to cut the dash apart to replace the factory 8 track. It was a fun car. A splash of gas and you could drive all day.
