Speedometer calibration

Hi everybody !!!

I have a 2020 Tundra SR5 TRD off Road with 39k mi. I got pulled over for allegedly doing 75 mph on a 65 mph speed zone. I'm a bit confused because I had my cruise control set at 70 but my analog speedo indicates 73. I dont know which one I need to go by. The truck is fully stock. I just happened to take a picture of the dashboard to keep a record of my mpg before I got pulled over. Where can I go to have it recalibrate other than the dealership ? Thanks

 

That’s an odd one. If your running the stock 275/65r18 or 275/55r20 you should be about 2 miles under.

 

X2 mine reads 2 mph more than actual but I only have the needle. My 2.7L Tacoma was terrible; 78 mph needle was 70 actual.

You can get a gps speedometer app to get an idea if it's that far off. Or stopwatch a few highway mile markers and compute average speed.

 

Do you have an extended warranty? If so, take it to the dealership.

 

That is a impressive range estimate for the fuel mileage. I have a 2020 SR5 and max out at 496 tops. Teach me your witchcraft.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! I second the visit to the dealer. Then show the judge the proof that the calibration was off and he will likely dismiss the charges.

I'm not exactly sure how to reply but I really didn't do anything special to my truck other than adding a driver side grab handle. It's started off with 496 mi range with 2 mi in the odometer. Then as I tacked on more miles it went up to as high as 590 mi range with 39k mi (current mileage). Looks like I ha e no other choice but to take it to the dealer and hopefully they won't charge me too much to get this thing recalibrated......thanks all.
