I have aftermarket icon 17” wheels and the center hole is too small for the metal piece on the cable to fit through so I can crank it up against the bottom of the bed. Does anyone have any smarter solutions than grinding it down till it fits? Thanks

Hope your referring to grinding the spare tire mechanism, and not the wheel?

Well turns out it won’t fit no matter what. I will have to cut the mechanism and put on something different that fits through the hole. Stupid!!!

It’s possible that you might be able to cut one of the links closest to the part that goes through the wheel and use a threaded link (carabiner type) to re-attach the end piece to chain after dropping chain through hole in wheel.
Just a thought. It would definitely add an extra step to getting the spare down though.
