Where is the sound module located? I've read that just pulling it kills the fake engine noise.....

I understand that but I have no need for a Carista other than to disable the engine sound.

I am fairly certain it is baked into the ECU, and not some separate module you can remove. So your options are:
Disable it via a Carista (which costs like $50)
Disable it via TechStream (pricey, or you can take it to a dealer and maybe they will do it for free)
    Unplug your speakers (free)

K&N air filter. Front windows tint, RC front leveling kit.
I had my truck at the dealer for oil change and asked them to disable fake noise. They did without charging me anything

I like the JBL sound system a lot so no speaker disconnecting going to happen.

I'll go with a Carista or the dealer. Thanks all.

I've never used a Carista (and app) or other such device. Is it possible to accidentally screw up the ECU by using it? Or is it fairly clear in it's use?

It is very user friendly. It presents options that you can change, and lets you select what you want. You aren't in there changing lines of code or anything. It is pretty safe and easy to use. I don't know what would happen if you hit save and disconnect your battery or something during the save, but you'd really have to be trying to mess something up to actually mess something up.

Got the Carista. Nice unit and easy to use. I disabled the Engine Sound Enhancement (ESE) and it makes a difference. For me, quiet is good.

Anyone know if the Active Noise Cancellation is a separate function or is it linked to the ESE? I've played with shutting it off and on and can't tell.

I have a sound meter and plan to measure cab sound levels with and without both the ESE and the ANR.

Thanks! I'd like to have the ANC functional and maybe it will reduce noise even more.

ryanwgregg, where did you get the parts manual? And is there a wiring diagram I can get for the 2023 Tundra?

This is what the ever not helpful people at Toyota said when I asked about the ANC and ESE:
