    Sup guys,

Well, never thought the day would come...but, I sold my TRD Pro Tundra. First of all, I gotta say it was a great truck and if I ever get another truck...it will be another Tundra!

Why did I sell it you ask? Well, unfortunately, for what I am needing a 4x4 for...the Tundra was either too big, too thirsty, or not capable enough (mechanically) to get me in and out of places. The Pro is a massive truck! There were times I had to take alternate routes on trails with friends because my rig was just too big to squeeze around bends. It’s also super thirsty! Last month I spent $500 on gas in a matter of a week!!! Then the lockers installed became a hassle because they were not a factory option, so engaging and disengaging them became a chore. There were also things like fit and finish of the Pro that I came across after owning the truck that I wasn’t happy about considering it was nearly a $60k rig from Toyota. Overall, I had to let it go. Again, great truck but not for me right now.

I bought the truck for $56k in 2020 ($59k out the door) and sold it for $58.5k with 9k miles...not bad resale! I picked up a brand new 2021 Jeep JL Rubicon 2dr FULLY LOADED with a manual transmission (made in Japan btw) for $55k! I owe less, pay less monthly, and this thing is so much fun to drive on and off road. Plus, factory lockers and off road goodies that are so easy to use. The interior is (in my opinion) much nicer than anything Toyota offers and the aftermarket is insane. Anyhow, it was great reading about everyone’s rig on here, maybe ill be back in the future with another Tundra!

Sounds like you got what you want and needed. I did it the other way round. Jeep JK to Tundra. The Jeep was fun especially with the top and doors off. My Tundra fits my needs and that gas guzzling V8 is just as much fun.
Hope you enjoy your new ride.

And, most importantly, you don't gotta leave the forum just because you don't have a Tundra! Lots of members have moved to other rigs for various reasons, and they are still active and welcome memebers! Hell, do any of our Moderators have Tundras anymore?:monocle:

Tried to PM you for a heads up, but your privacy settings won't let me. Careful with politics. Mods swing the ban hammer hard for that one. You should edit out that bit kinda like I did with your quote. Even if they agree with you, the Mods will hit you. Just a friendly heads up.

    You don’t have to leave...FYI.

Check out the other sites @Bob owns Jeeps.net.

Did you get the 4 banger turbo or V6? My buddy has the 4T and it scoots along pretty good when it had 4.10s and 37’s. We just did a 4.88 gear swap, so it should be pretty good now.

Good luck.....let’s just say I’ll never get a Jeep again (it was my DD before my Tacoma and now Tundra). My friends tried to warn me beforehand but I thought I’d be an anomaly. I thought I’d take good care of it and buy new....fast forward 9 months later the engine exploded (that wasn’t the only issue it had in my short time of ownership).

Jeep ownership is definitely a cult following, lol (ex. Jeep “wave”). They are kinda like tattoos too. Once you get a Jeep you want to continue upgrading stuff to it (lift, better tires, rims, light bar, etc.). If they didn’t look so dang cool, they’d have gone out of business years ago because they’ve had many known issues for years.

They really are fun when they work....but the keyword here is...WHEN. It’s a Chrysler product. As long as you understand that, issues won’t come as a shock.

After all my issues, I got it fixed, sold it the next day and cut my losses. I came to the realization that I prefer to invest my money in something I could rely on...not something that was a money pit no matter how cool it looked....which is why I went back and plan to stick with one of the most reliable brands out there (Toyota).

I got the Steel Bumpers and Hinge Reinforcements coming in Monday. Other than those, the thing is loaded....well, minus the safety BS.

That thing looks awesome! Jeeps really do have a nice style, but I really like the stubby little 2 doors like this.

    Any interior shots?

I swear this thing reminds me of my 72’ FJ40 soo much! I miss that thing, but I feel like this is what a modern version of an FJ40 would be like. Super comfortable and super capable. Very happy with it. I also do all wrenching myself on all my cars, so if the Jeep wants to be naughty....I say bring it on!

Sounds like a plan! You should keep this thread going to document your Jeep Journey! Yeah, we are Tundra enthusiasts, but that just means we like cars/trucks!

I tried hard to come up with a solution to make it “smarter” when engaging both front and rear without forgetting to disengage the rear. Otherwise, you accidentally disengage the rear while locking front only...which is risky on the front diff. The Rubicon doesn’t let you do that. It’s rear only or both and figures out which is on already. At least the way I had it wired up (with oem buttons), it was like babysitting the setup.

That thing is really bad ass looking. I like that a lot. 6 speed and all. I wish Toyota would make a new FJ40.

Thanks man! I will say, it does have a “Toyota-ish” part on it....the 6spd I believe is made by Aisin-Warner in Japan, which from what I have researched is the same 6spd used in Toyota 4x4’s outside of the US. Buttery smooth!

I can see how the Jeep will be more nimble on the trails, going from a full size Tundra to 2 doors jeep you should be able to squeeze anywhere now. You will miss the huge bed/Tundra interior though when it's time to pack up the gear.
Have fun on the trails ! check out TrailRecon YT channel for some Jeep action.

Small trailer behind that Jeep, left at camp with gear while you hit trails. Won't be bad at all.

I really like what Fiat did with the interior of the Jeep. I also like the slightly rounded edges. Overall the new Jeep’s have a more “finished” appearance inside and out.

That said, Make sure you’re not part of the recall on the trans.

Also, I don’t know what these guys did to theirs but if the trans gives you grief take it back and leave it with them until they get it sorted.
