hey guys, wondering if anyone from so cal would be interested to get a group of us from here to run the Holcomb trail (3n16) in Big Bear sometime and maybe grab some food or something in town after?

Edit: my truck is not modded enough to run Holcomb :( but lots of guys on here that might be interested

Sweet! Not nodded enough? Are we talking about the same trail? I just did it about 2 weeks ago on stock suspension.

I could be wrong. I know some of the trails can get a gnarly and sliders are highly recommended.

We're hoping to have @BestGen (as mentioned by @Marty McFly ) be our guide for a BB trip. With T2S so close we haven't begun to discuss a time frame yet.

    Yea
    I know of a few
Up there that if you took the wrong trail you’d definitely want some sliders and 37’s. The trail I’m talking about is super mellow with a couple of shallow water crossings, muddy trails, and a few icy hills nothing bad at all.

We might have to wait 'til you're a little less sleep deprived. At least I was sleep deprived when I was in your shoes. I hope you're enjoying the heck out of it though.

Haha very sleep deprived but loving every moment. That’s why I’m up now. But my shift is over and I’m about to hit the sack for a few hours before I gotta go to work :bored:

I wish I could go to T2S this year but duty calls.

The camp is in an area designated for this event. Anyone that registers will get the location info. A few of us from SoCal are headed over, and likely will do caravans depending on timeframes for starting that way. Others doing the same from all over the U.S. Where are you?

@Marty McFly I think you're confusing Holcomb Valley trail 3N16 IMG_2406.jpgwith the Holcomb Creek trail 3N93
    IMG_0487.jpgTwo very different trails.
@831Tun I'll be ready for you guys! Still need to know what level of damage is acceptable so as to plan a route accordingly. :D

NO DAMAGE IS ACCEPTABLE!!! What's wrong with you??? o_O :D But you'll be surprised what we can get over without any damage. Just as long as we don't get any body damage, we're good. Scraping the armor is totally fine. 3N93 looks doable. Atleast that section in the pic.

I'm up for any of the "easy" big bear trails. By easy I mean 2wd (so you know, most of big bear).

It's usually the width that limits us. All armored up like we are, we slide down obstacles like kids at the playground,,,,, sort of.

I vote for one trip with multiple trail options. I want to see the built trucks so I can daydream about trading for a 4wd

I'm in Temecula, work in Moreno Valley. I'll be leaving for T2S from MoVal Wed around 10am

Also, I plan trips about once a month if you're interested. I usually post trip threads in the SoCal section. We're always looking for new trucks to wheel with us so hit me up sometime. Also, if you're ever in the Temecula area and you want to grab a beer and talk trucks hit me up. Weekends are usually best for me

Gears and a rear locker are going in soon. So hopefully I won't have this problem anymore:

    https://youtu.be/0hJDOEnVPow

I need you to show me some of the harder trails in the BB area this year. I always want to try them, but I don't know what they look like and I'm afraid they'll be narrow and I'll get halfway through and get pinched in haha

plus nobody is willing to run them with me...

Warren is right on about width being the limiting factor. Gold Mtn isn't particularly difficult, but the switchbacks at the beginning can cause problems for long wheelbase rigs. Dishpan Springs is difficult, especially for wider trucks. Same with JB. There are some narrow sections snaking thru the trees. Holcomb Creek and Lower Larga, same issue, not terribly difficult, but big, long wide rigs will find it tight going. Like I said before, 'how much body damage are you willing to suffer?'IMG_2292.jpg^Dishpan Springs. The bypass is narrow. And almost as difficult as the main obstacle.
