Picked one up for several reasons... everyone keeps more distance in traffic and parking lots now. Highly recommend this if you dont already have something mounted.

Nice but probably illegal where I live. I'm not even supposed to drive with trailer hitch in....unless hauling.
There was actually a DOT guy giving out tickets a few months ago.

First time I've heard of that... that's crazy. Do you know why your state made that law?

I'm not in a state, well other than being crazy. I'm in Canada, havn't bean pulled over because of a hitch but what I've heard is something about the bumper is designed to crumple at low speed impacts and a hitch stops it from doing that. Also something about it sticking out more than so many inches...8? Tires can't stick out over an inch or so up here legally either...tinted glass on drivers side windows a no no...
Anyways tried to look it up quick , had to read a bunch of rules so I lost interest and came back here. Did notice this though MI House Bill 5610...didn't read the whole thing, not even sure it passed but the same idea.

I bought the same one and have mine on all year round unless I have my Thule bike rack on. Love it, only thing it started to fade a little and rust around the neck where it bangs around on the hitch
