Couple pics of my Silver Sky Metallic 1794 with the Sport/Pro Hood scoop. Thought I’d post it since I hadn’t seen a SSM Tundra with it yet. I know it’s a love-it or hate-it for a lot of guys. I went back and fourth on the hood scoop for several months yet anytime I saw a Sport/Pro it caught my eye. I decided to commit and really like it. The front end has a more aggressive look. I’ll breakdown my install experience later. For new pics...

Looks great. I love you color matched grill too. I always wanted to paint mine but chickened out. I ended up wrapping part of it. Doesn't look as clean as yours does. I like the skewp, had a Tacoma sport with one, love the look

Your grill looks sharp, just the right amount of color match. Have you ever considered black Toyota letters?

I'm not sure what I wanna do with the Toyota letters. I like that they jump out at you. Always loved that old landcruiser look

Ironically I painted those letters silver sky cuz I didn't like how dark they were normally. I had a can of silver sky leftover from my old taco so I used that.

I had the hood scoop shipped directly to my friends autobody shop, I was surprised how big and built it is. After looking at what goes into the hood scoop, the cost seems more reasonable. It’s not flimsy or cheap plastic. Its a high quality fiberglass with a lot of thought and design elements (the rear edge is radiused to match the hood curve etc)

Your truck and @Devildawg712 helped me pull the trigger on adding the scoop.

For anyone considering adding the hood scoop, here are my take-aways from the install. If you haven’t seen the scoop in person, head to your local Toyota dealer, take pics, detailed measurements. Seeing the scoop in person helped quite a bit. I made a template from cardboard, there are (8) slot bolts that attach to the hood scoop to the hood of the truck. I put those bolts in place on the scoop then set it on top of the template and pressed the bolts through the cardboard which located exactly where I would drill. I then taped the template to the hood, measured, re-measured then measured again. The fun part (cringe) I took a snap center-punch to locate the (8) drill holes and point of no return. I put several strips of tape on the drill bit, set with just enough depth to drill through the hood and stop, not necessary but it’s helpful.

    Parts laid out:
    (8) Black slot-bolts and 10mm nuts (missing one nut in the pic) These secure the hood scoop to the hood
    (4) Silver nut washers and phillips screws. These secure the hood scoop intake grill to the scoop
    (4) White plastic clips, not used. Others that have installed the scoop can probably confirm the same
    (1) Hood scoop intake grill

    Hood scoop intake grill
    A864E3F9-379B-40F6-827B-088DF5E08199.jpg

Underside of hood scoop, there are (4) rubber gaskets with foam tape that install around the perimeter of the scoop and the hood intake grill leading edge.

There are (3) “tabs” that locate the hood scoop on OEM Sport/Pro hoods that you won’t use on the retrofit, I used a metal cut-off wheel on my dremel to remove those.

Overall, easy project. The learning curve is there is nothing that guides you so it’s seat of the pants figuring out what goes where. It’s clear and logical when you have the hardware and parts laid out in front of you. Another note, there are push clips that secure the acoustic pad on the underside of the hood, pop those out with a trim tool, remove the pad. I put an old blanket over the engine bay to keep metal shavings from making a mess.

Did you paint the black plastic insert? Mine started turning white so I taped it up and sprayed it with some SEM trim black.

I didn’t paint that piece, I’ll dress it for now. If need be I’ll remove and have it painted trim black as well.

Did you skip the (4) white push clips as well?

I think SS is a classic modern color and hides dirt well. Man that looks good, on top of the scoop, the color matched grille within the surround, the Pro fog bezels, LED in the bumper. I really like the contrast of the 1794 leather how it pairs with SS too. Attention to detail!

I feel the same about the SS, my last Tundra was blacked out. I loved that truck but I’m to OCD. It would be clean for about a day. The color combo on the 1794 SS with saddle interior for my preference is perfect.

The hard part was getting here, day I picked up my brand new “stock” ride. I knew how it was going to look and what needed to be done.
