So... i have removed a lot of chrome and am looking to replace my OEM aluminum nerf bars (2016 crewmax) and am a little embarrassed to ask about a less expensive alternative before deciding to spend big money on a (Black) replacement.
I was on Amazon and ran across the tyger auto (pic below) that has some pretty good reviews at about $300. I am looking for member opinions on this or other brands.
I don’t need sliders. I mostly do woods roads and logging trails.
Utility-wise, I don’t mind the OEM step. But now, looking at the truck, she looks like She’s dragging a couple of aluminum pontoons . I want something tighter to the body that looks badass and does the job.
I should add that I live in New England where snow and ice and road salt are plentiful.

    Non yet
I just ordered the aluminum Bully Steps. I went with them because aluminum doesnt rust. I live in PA and the salt and conditions up here rust the hell out of everything. I was replacing nerf bars every three years on my Tacoma because of it. I only bought the cheap ones because of it.

I just got the Tyger Blade steps and let me say.....they’re awesome!!!! Look great and seem to be well built.

Thanks. This is another good option. Those are nice and tight to the body and the contour lines to the shape of the truck is amazing. I didn’t see this full step version. All the reviews mention “beefy, rugged, well built, and good fit “ etc.

I am looking at those too. Saw a set on a 2017 and they fit tight and are solid. They look great.

I like the way they look and the price, but does a step that close to the actual door sill give you much help? How much lower than the sill are they?

They most certainly help, because they stick out from the internal floor board enough that it makes stepping up and then sitting into the truck easier. My steps are 5.5" lower than the door sill, and have 4.5" of width out from the edge of the door sill. MUCH easier.

Looks like it does have enough space to help out. Re-adding to Amazon cart for future consideration:)

Good shot of the winter effect. It’s to be expected out here anyway. These look great on the truck.

Yeah in the existing holes in the body. They're not a slider but these things are rock solid for what they are.

Thanks. Yeah for some of the things I do, I'd prefer sliders. I planned on fabbing my own using 2x2 square tube, similar to the Demello sliders. But not until deer season is over. By then, I'll need something to do and it'll be way cooler for sitting under a welder.

The mounting brackets are welded to the bar which IMO is stronger with less opportunity for rust and easier to clean. Some of the ones I have seen are bolted on both ends. You have to have high confidence in your manufacturing process to fabricate something that big and heavy, making it essentially 1-piece.
The one negative review I read was from a guy who was pissed because one side was a bit out of line and he had to widen the bolt hole in a bracket. I suspect it was shipping damage.

I just installed the Tygers steps last night to replace the OEM black tube steps. I absolutely love them and they meet all the things that other members have said. Finish was 9/10. Stoutness was 9/10. They bolt on 4 mounting points where the OEM was on 3 points. They sit 1" lower than the OEM and the top of the step is 1" higher. So slightly less clearance than before, they are slightly below the truck frame about 1-1.5". But they also hug up and in closer to the body with very minimal gap. Installation was easy and perfect hole line up. I would buy them again. As for the cut out stars and "Tyger", I bought 4" wide traction tape and covered them up and it provides very good grip too. The traction tape looks like it came that way.

This is an excellent review and a great idea to use the tape. There were a lot of Mildly negative references about the Tyger logo and stars in the reviews.
Way too busy and over branded IMO. I think they would look and sell more, were they plain. Though it won’t be a deal breaker for me.

Can you step on these without the removable steps on or are they too close to the body? I like the looks of them without the steps and don't need a true slider, but really like the looks of one...

The logo and stars definitely had me second guessing the purchase, but I honestly haven't noticed that much since installing. Of course, now that it's been called out on this thread it is now bothering me and will be getting covered up with traction tape asap :censored:

I have the Tygers you posted.
Only have 6400 miles on the truck so I haven't gone through a winter with them yet but my concern is how they'll hold up to the brine solution they pre-treat with. Time will tell.

They're pretty close to the body without the steps and you'd probably slip more often than not trying to put a toe on them.
