What are the best shocks to run on the 1st gen tundras? And what's the biggest tire you would suggest running on it as well? Ive seen a lot of people run the bilstein 5100s. My truck has a 2in leveling kit on it but that's all it has.

Ask two people, you’ll get three opinions. 5100’s are considered the best budget upgrade. If you have more to spend, the sky is the limit.

As far as tires goes, leveled trucks usually see a 285/70 flavor, pick your wheel.

What south paw said about the shocks ^^ I have 285/75/16 and I only rub at full lock you can also do 285/70/17, if you don’t want to do any trimming onto the wheel hub

Yeah. The Billys are budget friendly and are a great value (where quality meets fair price). In other words, you get a nice capable shock. They ride a bit firm as they are a progressive shock. KYB is another nice shock (Japanese) thats floatly as its digressive. Do your research on progressive vs digressive.

I’ve had both shocks and they both have their benefits.

I was reading another thread where guys had bought these super expensive double shock rear set ups with high end enlarged front shocks ($3000ish) and they said they were no better than the Billy 5100 ($400ish).

I have been using 4600 series Bilstein shock on my Toyota trucks for over 20 years, they are the best for general purpose use. As for tire size, I never run anything larger that the largest factory size... this practice has served me well.
