    Good day, All:

I am considering black emblems on my 3rd Gen Tundra Sr5 4x4 and I’d appreciate seeing some closeup/detailed pictures of what good black Tundra emblem overlays should look like.

The reason I ask is b/c yesterday I parked next to a newer Tundra that had what appeared to be matte black overlays.

From a few feet away, it looked like the badge edges were less-sharp/crisp than they should be. It looked a little horsey to me. (I wouldn’t have been happy with those particular overlays on my truck.) That said, perhaps it was a cheap aftermarket overlay...

I read a couple older threads on here about black badge overlays, but I’m no expert. I think some of the aftermarket manufacturers like Nox-Lux have recently stopped selling them for Tundras.

So, your recommendations (and pics) would be appreciated.

    Plasti dip is your friend.

Easy and affordable and easy to peel off if you make a mistake

Thanks for the recommendation. I assume you applied that with the chrome emblems still on your truck?

High quality black emblems are not expensive. Everything that comes in chrome is available in black.

I was considering buying overlays but then had another thought. I'll probably debadge everything and only keep the Tundra emblem but replace it with a black one. Costs less and cleans up the look IMO.

I personally like the plasti dipped for many reason

    - $6 a can (probably need 2, depending on how heavy you coat)
    - peel off easily if you get tired of it
    - dont have to wait for shipping and or pay s+h
    - it will last awhile
    - wash rack proof
    - looks like oem

    Overlay badges

Are either plastic or rubber that you put over the existing emblems but then again I've never seen one so to each their own I guess.

Just tossing out another option... I went with the TDY vynal stickers. I like the way it turned out for ease and cost.

They look to completely cover the chrome. Where did you get these overlays?

Pretty sure those are solid black emblems not overlays but I could be wrong.

I agree with all of the above regarding Plastidip with one exception...
Its not all that easy to peel off, especially something like emblems with all the small crevices and edges.

Are all of these the oem overlays or aftermarket? The oem's are pretty pricey, wondering if any of the aftermarket overlays are better than others. Any info would be appreciated.

I bought the OE ones they are expensive but they fit perfect. There were too many bad reviews of the cheaper ones when I bought mine but that could of changed. I cant see chrome on mine at all.
