I have a 2019 tundra 4 door limited with 50,000 miles on it, it has a very bad shake in the front end, toyota said it was brakes but it does it when your crusing down the road without using the brakes, the shake has been going on for 25,000 miles, I have $400 brakes on the front end it is not the brakes, any ideas of other trucks shaking or maybe bad parts???

Rotate the tires to eliminate that variable.

When braking from speed does the shake change and get worse? Messed up toe can to that.

id rotate, test, then get an alignment. Maybe you have a stuck brake piston?

    Alot of them
A warped rotor can cause a shake without touching the pedal.

All of these good suggestions. Shoot a temp gun at both front wheels after a trip down the highway to compare vs both rear wheels. If there's a significant difference, could be a stuck piston, caliper, warped rotor etc.

If you have 4wd, see if it shakes in 4hi.

Are you seeing any cupping or feathering on your front tires?

So my shaking started when the dealership did my 35K service and since then I did the ecgs bushing, powerstop z36 brakes and had Michelin defenders tires installed and still had a shake so I put the psi back to the stock numbers and the shake went away.

    Too many mods to come

So you changed the psi and the shake went away but now it’s back? I’m gonna say go check the tires and rebalance

Fwiw, I had a 15 silverado that I put new tires on, one would not balance they (discount) tried 3 times. Ended up lemon lawing that truck for other reasons so never figured out the balance. But it was just one tire, they probably would’ve replaced it if I’d have brought it in again.

I have never dealt with a vibration issue such as this with any of my other trucks. I’ve also read that tundras are very susceptible to vibrations as well which is killing my ocd lol

No shakes of shimmys here but I do have a few questions. Are any of the tires showing signs of feathering? Has anyone tried adjusting the toe to either side of the allowed limits?

I had an Element that with the blessing of the alignment shop adjusted the fronts toe out very slightly to decrease tire wear and fuel burn. It worked well but had one slightly negative effect. Under hard acceleration it would exhibit a slight vibration.

Taking my truck to an actual alignment shop soon and get it checked out since the only place that’s touched my truck has been the dealership.

2018 SR5. Mine shook just like yours did for a long time. Eventually Noticed the outside of the tires wearing badly. Got new tires, balanced, aligned, and it went away. I still have a very minor vibration in the steering wheel, but I can tolerate that.

our '19 CM has a shimmy with the Michelin Agilis tires. Had them balanced twice(2 diff shops). It didnt do it with the Coopers so it has to be the Michelins.

Mark tires with chalk indicating where it's located-LF, RF, RR, RL. Keep moving the tires around to narrow down which is causing the issue.

I'd be living at dt until they fixed it or refunded tires and labor

    Hope you kept the takeoffs

SoTexTundra did you ever find a solution to your vibration issue. I’m having the same issue. Purchased two new 295/70/18 Ridge Grapplers at Discount Tire and then drove to Toyota dealership for a alignment. I then drove home and got a vibration that felt like there was a restriction? Next morning I went back to re-do alignment. They tweak it and mentioned the alignment was in specs and suggested to try rebalancing front new tires. I returned to Discount Tire and they rebalanced the tires plus I specifically asked for road force balancing. Vibration was better but still present. Dropped air pressure to 38 lbs hot all around but I still get the vibration at acceleration around 30-33 mph. At this point I’m F…… annoyed! Alignment looks in spec and two rebalancing done already. I removed my .75 inch CB carrier bearing spacer and it went away for a day but it’s back! Any suggestions would be appreciated. I was wondering if my toe was to positive on each side and my total toe at 32 combined currently is causing the problem.

Tagging this thread, mine did this, I would shake when applying the brake’s at around 40-50, then it would still vibrate around 20-25.
    1. Went and got it aligned, still shake and vibrate.
    2. Went to get my tires rebalanced at Big-O, still did the same thing.
    3. Went to DTC, and got it Road Force balance, still did the same thing.
    4. Changed my rotor and brakes, all went away. Used the OEM rotors and brakes.

My tires are 285/70/18 Ridge Grapplers the PSI I have it in is 40 psi

Just curious if OP got it resolved.

Ely, was your vibration only when brakes were applied? My issue is at accelerating 30-33 mph with foot on gas pedal and de-acceleration at 30-33 mph. I only have 26k miles on a 2020 Trd Pro Tundra. I wouldn’t think it’s worn parts especially that’s it’s a pavement truck without any towing being done.

I’m still having a slight vibration at highway speeds that comes and goes. I haven’t been back to discount to re-balance and rotate tires to see if that helps but that will be my third time if I do that. I changed my tire pressure back to what the door jam sticker says and it helped me since I’m running stock tire size but still get a steering wheel vibration.

I have brand new power stop z36 brakes I had installed and the ecgs bushing for the front differential and I still get vibration. At this point I’m lost and am just waiting for something to show up or break just so I know what the issue actually is, but for now its live-able even though it annoys me everyday.

I had the Michelin shimmy and could not wait to get rid of them. Multiple alignments and balancing, rotations, would cure it for a short time then come back..Have Nokians now and zero issue..

yes, when I apply my brakes at around 40-45 and then it would shake at around 20-25 with np brakes applied.

Dang, no solutions as of yet here either. I saw on tire calculator that the rule of thumb for psi is plus 5 lbs to door jam specs if you’re running over sized tires. I might reinstall my.75 inch carrier bearing spacers after a month or so. In 3k miles I’ll be back at Discount Tire for rotation and balance. So let’s see what happens.

Now is your vibration at breaking only? My issue is not while breaking currently. It’s at take off and at 30-33 mph. Once I push through 35 mph it stop but returns at deceleration at the 30-33 mph.

I’ve had them done twice already and all four are in the green/ok with road force balance is what I’m being told. Trying to figure it out because it’s annoying and frustrating for a awesome truck that should be driving smooth! Thinking about returning back to Discount Tire for a rebalance

My vibration is more at highway speeds between 65-75 and it’s felt in the steering wheel. But it comes and goes so I don’t know if it’s the crappy roads or what anymore.
