I had a 2019 Tundra TRD Pro, had to change to a vehicle with six comfortable seats - so went Sequoia TRD Pro. I've only had it a week, so no modifications yet.

Plan on building it out to maximize comfort on long road trips from New England to Florida with family, and get it ready for light off-roading/overlanding for light camping trips.

Roof Rack: Will add the largest cargo Thule/Yakima on top I can fit on reasonably

    Wheels: keeping TRD Pro wheels

Tires: focus on more aggressive off-road tires with kevlar

Travel Trailer: looking into a small TT, like Airstream Basecamp

Suspension: will likely add the Firestone Airbags, or similar modification for towing

Body: closely studying options to wrap the vehicle, for long-term durability on cross-country road trips

    More to come.

Very nice Tree @Mass_Sequoia. Black Sequoias look so good. Only if I didn't live on a gravel road and deal with the hot southern summers.

Yes, it wouldn't work as a daily driver, but as a weekend only vehicle, the freshly waxed black Sequoia looks great.

Any thoughts on hitch storage options? Looking into that for my 2020 Sequoia TRD Pro right now but cant decide which route we want to go.

after going down this rabbit hole with my tundra I found a shop to custom fab a cooler rack with rod holders. Granted most of my road trips are to the beach so it works out. I paid around $500 for a made in America custom rack, but you could get a China made rack for $100.

If you want something custom and quality I can personally recommend looking up Plattinum Products out of Florida, they will ship or you can pick it up from them. You probably have a good local shop too. CAE872F4-C87A-4C4C-B520-23C89BBA83A4.jpg

I still have the same northern tools hitch tray I used on my 2004 Rubicon. Any flat tray style is the best IMO. There are many options these days including all aluminum versions

    hey Mass_Sequoia,

loving the rig! On a different level, I have a '19 SR5 and have been looking to accomplish exactly the same as you. Weekend camping, light/beginner off road trips, and just getting out there in my state of Oregon and feeling confident I have the right gear. If you have yet to makes moves on your rack situation, I went with a full sizes FrontRunner Slimline II, its a full length rack which is crazy modular so you can make all manner of adjustments, changes etc. My current setup has a 270 degree awning, 3 (2 really) Yakima tent, MaxTraxx mounts, front facing lightbar mounts (bar to be purchased) and still plenty of room to fit other bits along the way. If i take off the tent, you could literally put a table and chairs up there for having lunch in the sky. Happy to hit you with a few photos if you are interested to see the setup and get at least some inspiration. Cheers!
