2017 Sequoia Limited with JBL premium system.

I've been searching for information on how to bypass the amp for couple of days now.
Does anyone know whether the Tundra JBL wiring is the same as the Sequoia?

Factory radio has navigation and entune 2.0. I dont know what that mean, dont really care for it to be honest.

Im wanting to bypass the factory amp but it doesn't look like anyone make a plug 'n play harness for the Sequoia.

We all know how terrible the jbl system are.
At the moment i am running an Joying android headunit sc9853i with intel. Even with this headunit, the sound is still terrible. Muddy. I went and unplugged the sub because no amount of adjustments would help. Cant handle the sub.

Would it be possible to bypass the jbl amp, while keeping all the factory speakers in place? Would changing out just the amp help clear up the sounds? Or am i SOL and must go aftermarket speakers also?

The volume is terrible on this uniy, it max out at 36 but to get decent sound that you can hear, it need to be at 16-20. All the sounds are coming out of the tiny little dash speakers. No wonder i couldnt hear anything good. It's even worse when making bluetooth phone call.

Reason for the android unit is because i can tether internet to it, the 10in screen really help. I can have youtube playing for our 2yrs while driving. His car seat is in the middle of the 2nd row. Clear view of the screen and not to close up like the drop down rear monitor. Which is also terrible.

Looking for advice. Please share your thought. Ive chatted with Crutchfield tech and they said, no bypass kit available. Would have to rewire. Need aftermarket speakers because it would burn up the current radio if bypass.

So, i dont know. I just want better sound and keep my android radio. Can it be done?

Since you have already pulled the jbl head unit, you can dump the jbl amp. I would recommend adding another amp in its place. The factory jbl speakers seem decent and should last for a bit using a new amp.
You'll have to run RCA's from the back of your head unit to under the passangers seat, and a power wire from the battery for the new amp. Not very difficult at all.

    Here's some info about wiring:

I do plan on running an external amp for sure. I can run rca to the amp and run power wire no problem.
My only issue is figuring out how to use the plug at the factory amp so i dont have to run all new wires for the stock speakers.

Thanks for the link. I will compare to the wiring in the sequoia.

I just looked under the passenger seat and these connections are going into the jbl amp.
Doesnt match from link above. Will keep searching.

Definitely want to keep it intact. No cutting if possible.

I found this pac harness to connect at the amp. On their website said it's compatible with the Sequoia, all trim. I've emailed them asking whether it will work on my application. Waiting for a reply.

    https://catalog.pac-audio.com/catalog/amplifier-integration-harness/aph-ty04

If this work then my list will be like this.
    1. 5 channel amp (dont know which (brand)yet
    2. Amp kit
    3. 3 sets of RCA
    4. Pac aph-ty04 harness

    Does this sound complete?
If the harness work. Then i need to figure out which wires to combine for each channel. 5th being sub.

That parts list sounds good.. the harness is wrong and won’t work for the JBL.

since you have an aftermarket headunit I would just cut the harness or de-pin it and use that wiring. I’ve done a few systems where you amp the stock speakers and it makes a nice difference. Id have to look but I bought a harness for my JBL system before I got rid of everything. If I have it I’ll sell it to you for cheap!

Where you located? Near Norcal at all?

If you can find it, let me know. I am located in Southern Indiana though.
I would depin but i cannot find the specific wiring schematic for the Sequoia. I looked up the tundra jbl wiring and trying to see the coloring would match mine, but it doesnt.

I am 1 step closer to what im searching for, i think.
I looked on Maestro idatalink for my vehicle's spec and found that they have a t-harness, aTO1, that is needed when replacing the factory amp with a idata compatible amp.
Their instructions shows the pinout wiring for their t-harness and also show which input is which wire.
I just need to find out which way the plug faces. Would it face up where you can see the pushed release tab? Seem logical. Most diagram shows the plug face up where you can see the pushed release tab. If this is correct, then it shows exactly which pins are the speakers.

I found the bypass harness i was looking for. Made by metra axxess. Part number is in the photos. Direct plug. Wire color codes match the speakers and location perfectly. I used a 9v battery to test each wire and their location. It match.

Question now is, should i combine left dash speaker to the left tweet and woofer? Same for right dash speaker.
What about the center speaker? Leave it off or tie it to either the left or right front door?
Can i combine the sub coil 1 and 2 together? Positive wire from coil 1 and coil 2 together and same for negative wire...

Did you ever get confirmation on the best wiring setup or move forward with this installation? I have a 2008 Sequoia with JBL system and I just ordered the same Axxess harness. I plan to run wires from my aftermarket stereo to the amp location and connect to this bypass adapter. My factory amp went out and I really don't want to go through the hassle of an aftermarket amp. The aftermarket stereo has 50Wx4 so I am planning to connect in this configuration:

    Aftermarket Front Left:
    -Sequoia Front Left Mid/Tweeter
    -Sequoia Front Left Woofer

    Aftermarket Front Right
    -Front Right Mid/Tweeter
    -Front Right Woofer

    Aftermarket Rear Left:
    -Rear Left Mid/Tweeter
    -Rear Left Surround

    Aftermarket Rear Right:
    -Rear Right Mid/Tweeter
    -Rear Right Surround

Yeah, get the exact harness i posted above. That will work for your setup.
Connect it exactly as you laid out.
I went with that harness and it worked great for my setup. I am using an aftermarket amp. The one thing i dont like is the dash speakers will over power the door woofer. But other than that, the harness is exactly what i wanted. All the wires are correct for the speaker they go to.
If your headunit can do crossover then set it from there. That way it won't kill your tweeter prematurely from playing frequencies it's not supposed to.

Even on the factory speakers the sound quality is real clear and loud with my joying android radio.

Oh yeah i forgot, if you planning to run speaker wires from the radio to the bypass harness, get yourself the 9 wires conductor, also called speedwires.
That will make your life easier, 1 cable to run and not multiple. Run it straight down the right side of the center console. Pop the cup holder/file hold up as 1 piece. There's plenty of room under there.
You'd probably need about 5-8ft of it, i would guess.

@BrandonL812 I plan to add a 5-channel amp to my 2012 Sequoia with JBL and wanted to check with you to see how you connected the center dash speaker, any advice?

Also, how did you end up wiring the subwoofer? did you connected coils + ends and coils - ends?

Are you still using the stock speakers and sub?

    I appreciate it.

@blackout12, hey. I did not use the center speakers. If you wanted to you can pull power signal from the left and right front speakers. Pull positive from left speaker and negative from right speaker. This can all be done at the bypass harness. I am using all aftermarket speakers and sub.
on the sub i ran new signal cable from the amp to the sub.
If you are on stock you can combine the coils together at the bypass harness. Since it’s dual coils, you’ll have 2 positive and 2 negative wires to combine. Then you’ll be all set.
Let me know if you need help.

Sorry for bringing this old thread back to life. I thought the JBL speakers were 2ohm? So if you hook left tweeter/mid and woofer all together together, doesn't drop the OHM level even more to where most head units and amps can't handle it?

No. They are 4-ohm speakers. So combining them will make a 2-ohm load.
