I back into a tree my back up sensor didn't warn me and it was on so what should I do? Camera is working sensor didn't go off.
It damaged my bumper I wonder if Toyota will fix that if there at fault.
    Thanks for your replies..

I'm with @Makoy339. If your camera is working, consider looking at it from time to time.

I understand your upset , but to say Toyotas at fault becuase you relied on a sensor that didn't alert you that something was behind you? That's what your eye balls are for, not to mention the back up camera.. Don't get me wrong, I get the sensors probably should have warned you but how about some personal responsibility for your driving an being aware of your surroundings?.. Not long ago cars didn't come with sensors or cameras.. Not trying to sound like a jerk but it sound like just as much oporator error as it does equipment malfunction . Sh#t Happens

My apologies, given your truck is basically new I would certainly ask the dealer to check the system over to understand why it didn't give you a warning.

It never hurts to ask. I say call them up and give it a shot. I'd be upset to if it was my brand new truck.

Is the light on the parking sensor button illuminated? I keep mine turned off 90% of the time.

I would bet 100 bucks somewhere in their docs they tell you the sensors are and AID (something along that line) and are not to take place of the drivers responsibilities.

Toyota is still considering if they should fix cam tower and rear differential leaks (or is it seeps) and the audio system and no glovebox light ... There is a big queue before they get to trees!

I hate it when stuff like this happens and you have to upgrade to that new bumper you’ve been looking at online for the last 6 months!

There is absolutely no way toyota is going to cover the cost of this but ask away. They will side with the possibility that your park assist was turned off. If they do decide to fix it give them your business as a big thank you. How bad is the bumper? Do,you have errors with your sensors? It will show a malfunction on your center gauge display. If you need sensors I have 2 oem ones in the garage I could sell you they are not cheap at the dealer and this will save you a little. Please post pics

I tested mine getting as close as I could to a concrete pole about a foot in diameter. Our sensors only appear to work on large flat surfaces like a wall or another vehicle

I’m pretty sure those sensors pick up objects that are in their way. I’ve noticed that if you back up to a pole it doesn’t always pick it up but a big object it will
