Sell my 16 SR5 Tundra for a 19 TRD?

    Help me make this decision!

I currently have a 2016 SR5 2WD that I bought back in 2017. I have spent quite a bit upgrading the sound system, katzkin, and some other basic mods... I bought it before I really knew everything I wanted in a truck, and now I have this burning desire to have a 4X4. Honestly, I likely don't need it. I live in Austin, but I do go down the the beach quite a bit. Never had an issue down there, but there is just this burning "should of bought it" mindset I have about 4WD.

Part of me wants to take the hit and get a 2019 TRD, but the other part of me says stick it out another year or so and get a 4WD when the new line comes out, or at least get a 20' if the new ones are underwhelming.

What would you do in my situation?

I actually just rid of my 2016 SR5 2WD DC for a 19 Limited 4X4 Crewmax. But I didnt have any money invested into mine. Just minor stuff which I took off. I did the swap because I wanted to have 4x4 "just in case". Id rather have have and not need it than need it and not have it. I didnt go with a PRO due to finding one in CEMENT is almost impossible. But I like the upgrades my 19 has over the 16. But You have much more money invested into yours. How much of a hit are you looking at?

Well I feel like I could grab the subs out the back, and take the amp as well, so I wouldn't lose much on the sound system. But I would take a least a 1200 hit on the leather seats, and probably another 1k in random mods that I can't bring over. So that, plus the upcharge on the new truck, it could be a decent pill to have to swallow.

Wow. Well at this point you can start negotiating with dealers that have what you want and go from there. I got rid of my 16 with no hit. Thankfully. But I had to drive 2 hours to get my truck now.

I would get one now honestly. With the new tundra coming out in 2021 or 2022, I would wait on those for 2-3 years since most likely it’ll be an all new engine lineup...
There will be a few bugs to be worked out if that’s the case

Make sure youre figuring in interest rates too. With that said, I would wait till 2020 or 2021 personally. (The 4th Gen wont be until 2022, not 2021 imo.) It will have a better HU and push button start/smart key entry and you will have more color options with them bringing back the (best color) MGM to the Pros.
