You can get those types of tips at most places. Many of us use stuff from Screwdsecurity.com

If the thief/thieves are working a neighborhood I imagine they're gonna pass on anything with a shield regardless of hardware used to secure the shield. If you're parking for several days, like at the airport, then I imagine security bolts would make sense.
One idea is to use a mix of several different types of bolts that require different tools, like a hex drive, a torx etc

That's a good idea. Wish there was a way to put skunk juice up there that would spray them.

Call me crazy, but I'm just using the stock bolts that came with mine.

If they see a protector, they are moving on. None of these wanker thieves are unscrewing things.

Sawzall and Reciprocating saws are in their tool bags, no hand tools.

    I totally agree.
They want to get in and out in the least amount of time in with the least noise possible.

BUT, I went 8 months and 5 days without my Tundra waiting on cat parts.
I didn't mind spending a little extra for security bolts or head protectors for a piece of mind....

As well if one is parking in let's say an airport parking lot for a couple of days.
That sawzall can cut off a bolt head fairly easily, and airports and parking garages are getting hit more and more.

Might depend on which skids your talking about but I believe mine are 3/8" x 1.25"

    Would be 3/16" trans/cat plate on a '21 Tundra.

I have the Desert Eagle cat skid. It comes has square plates with welded nuts that drop into the cross members for bolting up the plate. So, depends what skid manufacturer you dealing with and what they provide for attachment points.

When I get back to my desk I'll look at my order from Screwd and see what sizes I used.

I have the DE front plate and the Valhalla rear plate. The front plate uses the 3/8-16 x 2". The 1.5 inch will fit (they were out of stock when I ordered them). These do fit the nutplate that came with the DE.

I used the 3/8-16 x 4" for the rear plate. I drilled additional holes in the DE so the 4" goes through both plates and has nuts and washers on top.
