Despite everyone on the forum saying keep the stock CAI- I couldn’t help myself after seeing how nice the S&B looks along with their airflow claims, as well as being a true CAI using the same air path as the stock intake.

Anyway- when I floor it my truck shifts about 1k rpms under redline now. Has anyone else experienced this from an aftermarket intake?

    It’s on a 2019 limited

I did unplug it for 30-40 minutes during the install. After putting some more drive time in it feels back to shifting normally. I will say though I absolutely do not feel any power gains on the butt dyno. Not worse but not better. After 6k I’ll probably go back to factory intake just for ease of maintenance. I was mostly excited about the sound but my trd exhaust seems to drown it out- can’t even tell it’s there.

I have older version, nothing happening on my end, I see you have the side wall on, have you taken off?

I find that 1st gear usually shifts 1k rpm’s earlier compared to the other gears

You’re right! First gear definitely does that. I live in busy/shitty downtown Seattle so it was hard to accelerate past 40, but today was able to go fly around a bit. I’m going to take the side cover off just for fun later today and will let you know if it makes a difference.

Me... I clean every oil change, but that's me, and I have an extra filter, that way I don't have to wait for it to dry

I run it without that side wall

Coolant line that go to the TB, the just bypass them so no coolant goes to TB. Takes about 15 minutes and 0$$$$$

One thing I did differently is I got coolant bypass caps at autozone for the nipples on the throttle body. I don’t remember the hose cap size but a variety pack is like $5

I have done the bypass on other vehicles, not the Tundra.... yet. :D

I have 3 filters, an oiled and two dry.

Remove negative terminal and stomp on brake pedal a few times. Sends the rest of the juice to the brake lights and drains the system.

I did take that cover off and holy shit. Major butt dyno gains probably all due to the amazing sound. Love it now though I’m glad I bought it haha. @ARamirez73 great idea of having two filters to eliminate the 24 hr dry time. Definitely gonna leave the cover off and follow your lead on that one

I just followed instructions, the extra filter was from an old YouTube video a guy cleaning a K&N and he said he didn't like waiting on dry time, so he bought one, I followed he's lead lol

FYI, pulling the side cover makes a huge difference in the sound of the intake. I got the dry filter for mine, not the washable one. I also have the TRD dual exhaust and it's still really tame, almost stock sounding with the cover on. Im happy with mine, once the weather turns cooler I'll pull the side cover off again.

I just swapped/cleaned my oiled S&B filter to the newer power stack filter, open side box, power commander on Sport+/2+, with TRD dual exhaust. The sound under the hood after 3000rpm, power commander holding gears longer till almost 4500 rpm, then hearing the TRD dual exhaust is like having “tow haul” x(10).....having two filters is a must just swap and drive, you can now take your time cleaning, drying & oiling for the next swap, which I do every 10k miles
