I'm the 3rd owner of a 2000 tundra and I've just recently noticed that I have some major rust issues with my frame...if I take it to a dealership will they fix it?

Holes bigger than 10mm (grape size) will get you a new frame. Take it to Stealership and let them process it for you.

Keep us posted. You’ll end up probably forking some money out on ‘extras’ during the frame replace.

Talk to the dealership and they said if the truck is older than 15 years then they won't fix it...

I thought the recall for frame fixes had expired? Is that not correct?

I got a guy who can cut the frame and put it back said he would only charge 400 as long as I get the wires and lines out of the way but I had already planed on selling the truck and then I relized my frame was rusting away

So Ive seen a few post on here were guys are still getting there frame fixed for no cost so I'm hoping I can talk to someone at the dealership tomorow and get some better answers than I did today..I've got one hole the size of a soft ball in front of the leaf spring hanger and 4 holes the size of golf balls behind the back leaf spring hanger where the hitch and bumper connects to the frame

Taking my 2000 Ltd tundra to the dealership Monday for inspection hopefully they will put a new frame on it but I'm afraid they might just try to do a buy out I hope not because the frame is the only thing wrong with it.. She got 240000 miles on her and has never had any major issues with the motor or tranny been the best truck I've ever owned

There's a chance that the previous owner(s) had the recall performed a few years ago when there was still metal left on your frame, so they simply undercoated it. If that's the case, you're petty much SOL.

If the recall did not get performed, then Toyota should be liable to replace your frame for free. I brought my Tundra in about 2 months ago and it is receiving a new frame, although I'm still waiting for the process to be completed.

enter your VIN here and see if anything pops up. if there are no open recalls, it means the PO brought it in, and you might want to sell the truck. If the recall is still open, then call another dealer, or toyota corporate, as they should legally be required to help you.

Once again, it’s not about the size of the holes, it’s about where the holes are. Those pictures show the holes are in the main frame rails, so there’s no guarantee what Toyota will do.

    It’s not a lack of maintenance issue, it’s a defective product issue. That’s why there’s a recall.

Now don’t get me wrong, undercoating and regular washing would help a lot, but it will only do so much.
