My SR5 is still on schedule to be built 8/27 and wanting to get some reasonably priced plastic storage containers that will fit in the bed without much wasted space when we go camping. One thing that has to fit is a plastic milk crate and it will carry blocking for the trailer. It's going to be placed in the left rear corner. The rest of the bed will be available for containers. Anyone else done this and if so, were you able to find sizes to fit well?

Fan of 24 quart milk crates, the rectangular kind, but I'm using a tonneau cover, so no particular need for weather-proofing. If I do find the need, I'll probably use the Ridgid ProBox system. They have a new horizontal roller-box that would be ideal for this use-case.

I use plastic bins from Home Depot. They’re the black ones with yellow lids. I think the brand is HDX. 27 gallon maybe? They have several sizes. They’re tough and cheap. Less than $15. Also have a tonneau.

I use the Rubbermaid Roughneck 18 gallon totes and they are perfect. Not too heavy when loaded and you can fit quite a few. Unfortunately my BakFlip MX4 has many more leaks than I could have imagined. Truthfully it’s horrendous but I digress. I need my containers to have lids because nothing stays dry with my tonneau cover. And my family and I travel a lot and wet bags aren’t good.

Same here,it is easy to get a modular system that fills a bed with little wasted space with these bins and they are tough too.

I use these plano boxes. Reasonable price at Home depot. I was using the HDX (i think) ones from home depot that are black with the yellow lids buuuut I soon discovered how much water those lids will hold due to there shape. Its a lot and i got tired of pouring it off. The Plano ones do not, plus made in the USA! cue eagle sounds

Ditto on the Texas made Plano's. All my gun cases are Plano. Alas, they are empty due to a boating accident and all my firearms were lost at sea....

Nice. I need a really large one to keep the tubes in when we aren't pulling them behind the jet skis.

I can see a few of the 108qt Planos being useful. The black and yellow HDX containers are usually at our local Sam's Club. We use one to store corn for feeding local deer. The one we have is about 30x20x14 and holds 150# of corn. Don't put a 50# bag on the lid with nothing under it for support. It will crack. Ask my dear wife about that one.

I do see a lot of pickups that will have various type bed racks and they'll mount their flyrod tubes on the racks. Long tubes so all you have to do is put on your waders and grab whatever flyrod you need.....you prolly know this already and doesn't take up bed space.

The Plano's can't take much odd weight on the lid either.

I have broken every single Plano case like that that I have ever used sadly.
Those rolling ones pictured above are supposed to be UPS shippable too but I found out the hard way how silly that claim is.

The Rubbermaid are OK but not that strong unless the lids are on.
The Roughnecks are really nice but tough to find right now?

I have probably 50 of the HDX Black ones and have only broken a few with stupid pointy heavy things when I drop them out of the truck.
But otherwise I travel with them full of tools all over the country and aside from making them too heavy they have been my go to and will be for a while.

I have many Pelican cases and they are the Shit but not as practical always at the same time.

I do admit that I don't put heavy items in my Plano's. Mostly sleeping bags, blankets, camping gear, etc. I also need to be able to move them around and pick them up!

I don't plan to put much weight in them and as a check most will be smaller in volume. My lovely wife hasn't grasped the concept that things like toasters and 1 cup coffee makers most likely will end up on the floor and broken if left on the kitchen counter of a travel trailer before you get out of your driveway. She wants a portable propane grill so as least one will be sized for that.

Funny side note: As we were considering getting a travel trailer I commented Keurig made a one cupper and she gave me the stank eye saying we'd just use the regular one from home. Wasn't too long after buying the 23RSS Vintage Cruiser she bought a single cup coffee maker.

Just for ideas, stack three high, also the ridge tool box, five gallon bucket.. Lowes has a great return policy.

I bought a rolling 24 gal craftsman box recently. Hopefully it will hold up. It seems pretty well built but definitely not made like a pelican case or similar.

If you look up military surplus cases there is a lot of options. I use one for all my pheasant hunting gear, pretty much lives in the truck bed all season. Most are also weather tight.

Next up is it making trips to Canada full of gear for a week of fishing a couple times a year. Mine so far has at least been dust proof.

Not the cheapest but a lot of uses and can hold quite a bit of weight if you need it to.

Thank you all for the good suggestions. I see myself getting an assortment of different types of containers to suit our needs. Now I wait on the truck.
