    Hey all,

I'm currently looking into some step rock sliders and have searched through the forums for quite a few options that are frame bolt ons. I'm trying to find ones that do not require drilling into the frame and so far it seems like CaliRaised as well as SDHQ are the only 2 options that require no drilling.

I think those 2 styles of step rocksliders are to my liking, but not sure if you guys would have any other recommendations that I'm not aware about.

Also, are the rock sliders universal between CM and DC?

    WKOR
    C4
    CBI
    RCI Off Road
    Smittybilt
    All Pro

These two are pretty close to CaliRaised and SDHQ... as far as the design goes.

    RRW
    Apex

If you guys have any recommendations, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Can confirm the RCIs are 100% bolt-on.

Did you have to do any drilling with RCI?

I did not drill a single hole. I bolted them on using the supplied hardware, which aligned with factory holes in the frame. :bananadance:

Once the USA/CAD border opens up, I will be looking more seriously at a set of Rock Sliders!

I just went through pages of conversations about this topic. After seeing a couple sets of sliders in real life, I landed on the White Knuckle brand and ordered them yesterday. The RCIs look similar and seem to be well regarded, also. Some of it might depend on your location, too, as freight will factor into your price. I paid $245 for shipping from east of L.A. to the south suburbs of Phoenix... :puke:

Are you going to be wheeling your truck?

If so, I would just go with WKOR. You have to drill into your frame but they are solid. They're one of the few that actually cover wheel to wheel, but only issue with them is they have exposed bolts on the bottom of your frame. If I were buying sliders today, this is the one I would choose.

SDHQ is also solid. I've had them on my truck for the last 6 years or so. They have the best mounting system by far. They actually mount to the cab mount in front, which is where you drop your truck onto rocks the most. All the other sliders mount further back and can bend if you drop it there. They also wrap around the frame with no drilling. Only issue with the SDHQ is they're a little short and doesn't reach the rear wheel. That is my only complaint. Also, they're chromoly.

P&P isn't bad. Just their customer service isn't the best and you might wait forever to get them. And I believe they're bolt on. One of the Bastrds have them and they've taken all the abuse we've thrown at them.

All Pro Apex is garbage. Don't get those. They straight up bend and you can't open your rear door.

I don't personally know anyone with RRW but from the recent thread on them, I'd stay far far away from those.

Cali Raised and RCI are fairly new so I haven't seen them in person. But I read Cali Raised is in the same building as Apex and I'm not sure if they're just rebranding the Apex sliders or making their own?

RCI, I don't like how short they are and how far forward the rear mount is. I would bend those pretty quick. If I were going to get shorter ones, I'd probably just go with SDHQ anyways.

The Cali Raised - Apex question also came up here. I had an All Pro bumper on a Tacoma once. It was poorly designed and bent like mad on the first minor impact, so personally, I will not buy armor from them again.

Thanks for all the details, joonbug!

    Actually,

After watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXMM2FQGPXw, those WKOR sliders do look amazing and the amount of protection the provide towards the rear is insane!

I’ll take your word for it joonbug, just because your build and your expertise is golden!

It shouldn’t be too bad drilling into the frame...

I’m having Cali raised sliders put on Friday. I have a crew max, not sure if they have them for DC. I’ll let you know what I think of them. I liked them and SDHQ but Cali raised is close to my house.

I’m surprised you didn’t drive out to Mesa and get the SDHQ. Eliminate shipping altogether.

    1) they’re still more expensive (by a lot) even without shipping.
    2) I like the aesthetics of the WK sliders better

The cost was the biggest factor though. I think I was looking at $500 more for the SDHQ set. Kinda sucks too because they’re only a few miles up the road from me.

I’m also on the White Knuckle bandwagon. They’re incredibly beefy. Super happy with mine. The install/drilling was not terrible. Got a shiny new bicep from it.

My truck and gear are sitting at just under 7k lbs fully loaded. That said my WKOR sliders have saved my ass and held up amazing. No dents or bends from bashing them or using them as jack points.

What is your aversion to drilling into the frame?
Just don’t want the extra work or this there a problem you foresee coming from it?

I’ll be going with Slee myself. I need a bit of a step for the 3 little kids and the dog.
Sure you have to drill into the frame but all those are counter sunk so not really anything sticking out.

Personally think the Slee sliders look much better than the usual tubular style slider.

    Not sure at this point.
For those of you running WKOR sliders, do the steps feel decent enough even with a 1.5-3in lift?

I’m not lifted yet, but we’re expecting and I want to make sure she feels confident using these sliders as steps with the a-pillar handle to get in and out of the truck.

I have a 3" lift and a short wife. We stick some skate tape on the tubes and she has no issues using them as steps.

I really wish they would offer a top plate of something other than Diamond plate. Their tubular sliders look great but I need full step plates for little kids and the dog.
The Diamond plate looks like cheap trash unfortunately.

My youngest daughter has been stepping up on my sliders since she was 5. Never an issue. Kids learn pretty quick. Not sure about dogs though. I personally would never get a top plate. They would be a nightmare to clean off mud.

Cleaning would be no different than a full plate running board. Just a few passes with the power washer and bye, bye mud.

We removed our Nerf bars after getting this dog. I have her trained to wait when I open the rear door and I lift her in (she's 50lbs)....but when she's super excited she just jumps in (and sometimes when she is getting out).

I for one, can't have tubes without a tight fit against frame/body and top plates. I'd love to, but can't risk the paws getting stuck in there. That's life with a dog I guess, but she's worth it.

The mud will get all in between the tubes under the plate. By the time you get home from a wheeling trip it’s caked on like cement. You’d pretty much have to lie on your back and shoot the power sprayer up into it from underneath. And will probably have to chisel some of it out. Without the plate, a lot of the caked on mud falls out on its own and you can power wash standing up.

My dog is much better and more calm getting into the truck than my boys.
But for the sake of them all I want a nice solid step but the true protection of a slider.
So Slee is likely what I will end up with.

You need to get an under carriage attachment my friend!!
No bending over at all Slap that sucker and and just slide it back and forth under the truck. Blasts mud off lickity split.
Does a heck of a job after a muddy venture.

I just looked up the SLEE. They look awesome.

Just confirm they fit your tank size, sound like they were only made for the smaller tanks at one time.
