Had to take the Tundra in to the dealer for some rotor resurfacing (currently between houses and all tools in storage or I'd Diy) and I had the pleasure of cruising around the showroom floor for a while.

Found this ridiculous "deal" on a new Tacoma TRD Pro. 20180609_111204.jpgSorry for the poor photo, but the gist of it is almost $55,000 for the vehicle. Great deal considering the $5000 market adjustment and $1600 protection package:spending:

Everytime I see a new Tacoma, I laugh and say, you could have got a helluva lot more truck for less than you paid for the Tacoma.

Local dealer here stocks nothing but TSS Tundras, if one dosen't move hell throw on a spacer lift and Moto Metal wheels with typically Micky Thompsons or bigger KO2'S. He dosen't knock off anything for the TSS wheels he removed and will typically ask about $52k for a cloth seat truck and shotty spacer lift!!. Last one I looked at was $6,500 upcharge.

Its getting to where just a couple year old low mileage pickup, especially Toyota, is damn near the price of a new one. Last time I was at my dealer for free oil change they had a 17 identical to my truck to the tee, no haggle price $41.5k. I gave $43.5k for mine new last March.

If you want to avoid a ridiculous price, shop for a Tundra
that's at least 5 years old... 10 years old would be better.

My dad is in the wholesale car business and he says truck prices are outrageous all across the board. My cousin recently bought a 2012 crew cab GMC 1500 Z71 with 122k miles for $22.5

Same here. I was looking used at the time. Found couple that were four or five years old with 80,000 miles at around $30,000. I paid another $7000 and bought brand new. With a better interest-rate.

Same. I vowed to never buy a new truck again after losing my arse on my 2004 GMC Sierra. With the Tundras though, it makes a lot more sense.

What does that even say? 10k for a cilade7? Is that a good deal for that?

It isn’t just trucks. When I bought my daughter her first car a few years ago, I couldn’t find anything used that was reasonable, unless it was a beat up piece of shit. She got a brand new car because it was ultimately just as cheap.

Craziness All around. When I traded my Chevy half ton in for the tundra they offered me 5k less than I paid for it 4 years prior then they had it sitting on the lot for what I paid. It had 46k miles on it. Couldn't pass it up for a new tundra.

Dealers know they can heavily mark up accessories because the buyer can roll them into financing

Ok, just being stupid here.....but, first I've seen a "Market Adjustment" on the window. Is it based on how popular the truck is....aka TRD Pro....or the Market, such as Los Angeles vrs Bismarck?

"Market Adjustment" means the clueless buyer is going to pay the dealer for an ass rape.

Got this response from another dealer in the Tri Valley area for a 2019 Tundra Pro.

“As of right now, I do not have any ..It will be here in the next 4-5 months and we will sell it 15k Mark up over MSRP.

I can reserve one for you at 10k Deposit.”

It's how much the dealer thinks they're able to charge over and above MSRP, it's usually more based on perceived scarcity and demand vs. popularity.
