I’ll need new tires fall/winter of 2019. Really intrigued about the 285/70 r18 tire. Looking at 6112’s at 1.9” and keeping stock TRD OR wheels to mount that size on. Not looking for a mud terrain so the Nitto Ridge grappler seems to be my only choice.

What I’m looking for is guys that have driven both the KO2 and RG. Just want to know how they compare to each other. Preferring guys that deal with a 2-3” per hour snowfall possibility. I do some dirt logging roads and farm fields that the KO2 runs well enough for me. RG needs that too but snow performance is the most important. KO2 dominates in the kind of snowfall I get up here.

I understand that people are partial to their own $300/tire brand. I get the brand loyalty thing trust me, I love my KO2s. So I’m mostly just interested in folks that have experience with both

    Thanks!

KO2 have the snowflake rating. Not sure the RG have it.

Yeah I don’t think they do either.

Ideally I’d get a KO2 in the 285/70r18 size or falken wildpeak (my wife’s 4R has those and they are aces in the snow too. Also have the snowflake rating)

I have the Toyo AT2 on my Tundra and KO2 on the wife Pathfinder. I feel the KO2 perform better in the snow so if snow performance is your #1 criteria I would get the KO2s. The Falken have good reviews too.

295/70 is another good option. get a bit more clearance with taller tires.

Yeah. Just really want to move up from a 275/70r18 without a mall crawler/bro lift look. I don’t take the truck to just off road, even though I ride some log trails and farm fields for hunting. 285/70r18 seems like a perfect size for me. Fills out the wheel well a little better than the 275’s. Just a little to narrow of a tire for my esthetic (even though I know narrower is preferred in snow)

I’m thinking that might be too big/heavy for me.

I've got 285/70-18 ridge grapplers now but had 275/70-18 KO2s before. I feel the ridge grapplers perform as well or maybe a little better than the KO2s in snow. We got a few inches about 2 weeks after I got my new tires, and the truck had absolutely no issues.

I'm about to install Ridge Grapplers in that size on my TRD OR with 6112's at the 1.9 setting, so soon I can give you my thoughts on them. But not with respect to snow, other than a couple winter trips to New Mexico, since I live in central Texas.
I'm just hoping they are better in the rain than the BFG's, as my last couple sets of those sucked in the rain.

Awesome this is kind of what I was figuring but as long as snow performance isn’t suffering too much I could manage.

Well this is good news. It would be exactly the move I’m planning on making. Thank you.

Awesome. Can’t wait to see pics and hear your thoughts on the set up. Tag me when you get everything up and running if you don’t mind. I have been lucky and have had pretty good luck in a few frog strangler rainstorms in my KO2s.

These are all great. Thank you.
