i just got the mx one on black friday for 1087 shipped from autoanything.. can’t beat that .. will be doing install this next week

it simply came down to price and the fact that i never put stuff on the top of the cover so i didn’t need the reinforcement .... scour craigslist you might find a used pro for under a grand if you have a crewmax.. i have a double cab and only found one in the country used for sale .. after hours of research i think these are the best built, best looking, and best performing IMO

real world tests to come though i’m just going off testimonials and videos

Do the roll n lock or TRuck Covers USA. I didn’t like how the retrax is all manual, you have to physically push it back. The ones I mentioned retract on their own. Also I dunno if the retrax I saw has something wrong with it but it wasn’t easy to push back, kept getting stuck.

It’s spring loaded so when you pull the handle it rolls back on it’s own. I have a vid of it on my IG page if you wanna check it out @Rockwarrior808

The big difference to consider is how much weight you plan on putting on top of it. The MX one is polycarbonate reinforced with aluminum and holds 200lbs. The Pro is all aluminum and holds 500.
I picked up a used mx one a week ago and love it. The retrax only sticks if you install it unevenly. A few adjustments, and it slides opens fully with one push. Closes just as easily.
Also, if this matters, the One MX is matte...while the Pro is glossy.

    Two things....
First, make sure that the rails are even. If one side is even 1/4” farther to the front or rear than the other, it will hang.
Second, it’s easy to accidentally screw the white adjustment screws in too far and the result is the rails being too close together which puts pressure on the rollers and it sticks. Just back them out a little at a time and play with it until it’s perfect.

Also, my cover came with the clamps FOR rails. Since I don’t have a rail system, and I’m not patient enough to wait for the proper $26 kit, I bolted mine directly to the bedrails and used steel spacers once I figured out the proper spacing.

Not that I recommend that, just full disclosure.

    See fine print
how do the retrax covers bolt on? Do they bolt onto the deck rail if you have one? I want a cover that bolts onto the deck rail.

You can choose mounts for the deck rail or mounts for the bed without the rail when you order.

The Retrax PowerTraxPRO MX Tonneau Cover (Matte Finish) is an awesome cover for anyone looking for the auto close version.
