Resurrecting the GX Thread

I installed the Southern Style Off-road roof rack with a Heise Slimline SL-3912 lightbar. The lightbar outshines the high beams by far. I thought about tilting it up a little more but not sure I need to. There is a lot of humidity in the air but you get the gist.

Traded in my 18 tundra for this 16 460

 

Wife's Sequoia was totaled in a wreck. Spent a month finding a replacement and not wanting near the payment we previously had, we bought a 14 GX. It's a base model but still has some nice features. It has 89k on it.

Wish we could go a little newer but this thing has a service record that was, well overkill in my opinion. It has had all manufacturer maintenance done to it. Was completely surprised tha t someone actually did all that.

Hoping it goes well into the 200,000 mile range.

So the GX is built on the LC Prado platform. Is this the same platform as the 4Runner (for same generation)?

The 3rd gen 4Runner I have has info saying it too is based on the Prado...

 

I believe so. The 4runner and GX are built in the same factory in Japan. Same frame as well.

The main difference from the 4Runner is the 4.6L V8 engine and 6 speed transmission. It is also full time 4wd which is available on 4Runner as well as the KDSS system. The body is a LC Prado with different front clip. The Prado has diesel and gas options.

 

So, the wife & I are out of town & I have to go check out the new Tundra at the local Toyota dealer. She sees a car at the Lexus dealer next door & we end up trading in her 2017 Highlander for this 2015 Lexus GX 460 Luxury model with 93k. I know its a crazy market, but the GX had 23 service records and was well cared for. Overall a nice upgrade for the small cash difference.
